Does your spouse support your watch habit?

  • Do you have a secret drawer, panel, or safe where you store your watch collection?

  • Do you maintain a separate credit card or account that you use exclusively for watch purchases?

  • Are there watches in your collection that you don't dare let your spouse see?

My wife truly does and she isn’t into watches at all. Funny enough I talk about them so much she knows a lot of the parts of a watch by name and had even let me custom build her one. My wife is the best! She doesn’t restrict how many I buy at all. I can come home with a 10k watch and she will know I am responsible enough to have made such a purchase when we are completely financially stable.

No

Monetarily? Nope. Every other way? Sure.

·

Yes, she's as much into the hobby as I am. She's just getting into repairing and modding, I'm not into that at all.

·

My girlfriend has her own collection as well. She has got me many watches and I love giving/making watches for her. I made this for her yesterday (she hasn't seen it yet)

No…

·

what spouse? 😉

·

Yep.

·

My wife initially was annoyed and perplexed by my interest in watches. Thankfully, over time she has become more supportive. There are no secrets between us. She knows I will be reasonable with buying/selling.

·

No financial secrets in our household. She didn’t understand it at first but after my first luxury watch purchase and taking her along with me to visit ADs she started to understand. Also helps that she has the same passion but for purses so we have a mutual understanding.

·

"If it makes you happy" vibe added to a regular comment on how mysterious and un-understandable it is that I appreciate it.

Can attest i've seen you both in person 😅

I wouldn't own what I do without my wife's support. She doesn't care for watches at all but has allowed me to buy and enjoy what I want so long as it doesn't take away from savings/investments or impact our regular lives. No secrets!

My wife has zero participation in the online portion of this hobby but plays well with others at the many offline events we attend. She dailys a Cartier Francaise that she absolutely loves but also rocks a diverse collection from MoonSwatch to Rolex.

I'm seeing many more couples at Southern California watch events than elsewhere on the west coast but maybe it's just another case of L.A. trailblazing. One can only hope!👍

·

Yes, she puts up with it 🤣, slowly turning her into it too.

·

She was supportive for the first 6 or so purchases. Then after that she's always thought me having 2 watch boxes full (and growing) is excessive. I always have to justify the next purchase now. It is not that we are financially struggling but that the money could always be redirected to a different use. Like more vacation funds, or a new bag, shoes, jewelry for her, and whatever else non watch related we could spend it on.😅

·

Nah, she's aware of all of it and doesn't begrudge my watch habit. I usually socialize my next watch purchase with her before I pull the trigger - always when it's say north of about $500, less so if it's under that.

I did get a watch (<$500) once without telling her and wore it just to see how long it would take her to notice. Which was about 5 seconds 😂

I am hoping for this to occur 🙃

My wife doesn’t care about watches at all. But she knows what I buy and what I spend. She also knows I won’t spend what we can’t afford or that I won’t put any kind of financial burden on the family. With that being said, she suggested I turn a drawer into a watch box so that I won’t have a bunch of watch boxes all over the place 😅I’ve only started collecting in May. She knows me too well lol

She actually does pay attention to an extent of what watches I get. She was horrified that @Ichibunz makes watches for other Crunchers and believes he should be my personal watchmaker. 😆hopefully your better half will come around!

·

She's tolerates my habit. She'll buy me one for Christmas and bday. She will roll her eyes when she sees the bank statement once in awhile. Then asks to see it. We're retired and debt free. We can afford my habit. She herself is not into watches. However she owns around 15 or so lol.

·

No, she only supports my drug habit.

·

She accepts it, but doesn’t understand it. I limit myself to a strict maximum of five watches though - so if a new one comes in, one must go out. She seems comfortable with that.

It’s an open secret. I leave watches all over my desk and they show up every week at my door, but I don’t get into specifics lol

My other half has finally thrown in the towel on trying to keep me under control, lol. I am responsible and don't require supervision.

·

support is too strong of a word. she puts up with it. so long as i also put up with her habits. 😂😂

·

Up to this day, she does, but the first purchase above 1K is coming so tables can turn upside down any moment lol 😂

My wife is the same way. She now knows watch brands now because I talk about them so much. She totally supports me growing my watch collection, but she does restrict me a bit to 1-2 new pieces a year.
