Cheap, small, Chinese traveller

I know, I know - Chinese homage quartz… Hear me out!

Lately I started to wear a lot of “military” colors - dark green, brown, etc. Also, I prefer to travel with watches that I don’t care much about and most of my collection are celebratory pieces for achievements.

That’s why this watch makes a lot of sense - the dial looks like dunes and is pretty nice, the size suits me, and it’s like $70, so it’s perfect for travel along with my G-Shocks.

Overall the quality is decent - around the entry level Seikos. Just like them the original bracelet wasn’t great so I swapped it for this nato strap that I had laying around.

I quite like it to be honest!

I mean I can understand why someone wouldn't prefer to wear Chinese homage watches, but to absolutely hate it to the point where you call people names for wearing them..it's definitely something I don't respect at all. At the end of the day, homage watches are still watches. San Martin for example, makes great watches for the prices. I dig your watch man, nice colors.

It's truly one of the very best you can get at this affordable price, if you don't like spending a lot or want to enjoy a watch that doesn't need to be pampered. And the dune dial is cool and original.👌

·

I have tons of Chinese homages - nothing wrong with them at all. The quality of some are excellent. 👍

·

What's it a homage of? 1950's OP? GS? Looks generic to me.

·

I think your choice of strap really elevates the look here. Great match!

·

This one is still my favorite grab and go watch. Well this and the AD2023 (explorer)

That's a great pick up! Zero need to hear you out brother. It's hands down a great watch for what you pay. Comparing this to an entry level Seiko is excellent.

In my humble opinion, a Seiko 5 is an entry level watch. The watch I choose to compare this to is this Seiko 5 below. I've tried to compare design for design.

This Seiko 5 is going for $227 🤯 WHAT?!?! That's MADNESS!!!

Then there's your Addiesdive for about $70 bucks! I bet it also has the Seiko VH31 movement which sweeps 4 beats per second. Which again in my humble opinion, a better movement than the simple quartz movement in this Seiko 5 which has zero sweeping hands and simply ticks every second.

The bracelet on the Addiesdive in fact maybe better LOL 😂

You chose wisely my man 🍻🤙🏽

Word. 😎👍 Behold the Addiesdive MY-050S. $23 of sexy quartz goodness.

I like it it looks damn good imo

·

Dune dial and that strap make a great combo!

It's as I point out, Oreos were imitation cookies of a famous brand called, Hydrox. Today, everyone knows Oreos, but few know Hydrox.

Nice one Fred, where did u source the orange dial? Do u have a link? Addiesdive (US site) do not have this color. Nor does Amazon's US site doesnt have that model at all.

I believe that it’s a homage to Rolex Oyster Perpetual 36 126000. It has the same size - 36 mm - and big lugs, so if you squint and look from a distance… 🤣

Thanks for the kind words! Yeah, I compare it to a Seiko 5 that I own and the overall quality isn’t that much different.

Seiko deserves every dollar that they are getting since their movements are fueling so many micro brands, but the built quality can be better in my opinion.

I’m not from the US so I’m not sure if this will work for you:

I think that the San Martin version of this is better but this is nice. They're trying to do something different. Well maybe San Martin was and now they're copying it. I think AliExpress is an Abbott and Costello Who's on First when it comes to who actually created a particular reference first. Everyone copies everyone

I totally agree. From what I saw the San Martin is better overall and I was torn between the two options. The Addiesdive is smaller which give it a retro vibe that I like and my wrist is tiny so it works.

This isn’t a copy watch tho. This is an original, aside from the Explorer case, but still

It’s a lot but in fairness, the costs between Seiko and Addiesdive are very different. And, most importantly, AliExpress watches are notorious for poor customer service. This is to say nothing of labor. Seikos aren’t necessarily bad deals, it’s just that not one can compete with a company that’s willing to go lower than another can afford to.

That’s not a 5. Sweeping ≠ better. In fact, it drains the batter faster, which means that it has a shorter battery lifespan than that Seiko’s probably will. The main way to get around this would be for sweeping quartz to be combined with solar power.

·

Total score 👌 looks great on the strap!! It's shit like this that gets me impulse buying...Dammit!!!

I bought this one through Aliexpress from a store called "Cutesliving"? The name is strange and questionable but I've bought 2 watches from them and everything went well. I would just sesrch for the model number on Aliexpress and go from there. You're going to pay a lot more for these Chinese-built watches from the official USA websites and Amazon resellers and they rarely have all the models.

$70 for an impulse buy is pretty sweet 🤣But to avoid hoarding I have a rule - I only allow myself to get one “not so special” watch a year.

Around October each year I’m teaching a marketing course and after every season I use part of the money to get a watch to commemorate it. Sometimes it’s a Timex, sometimes it’s something more expensive depending on my other priorities. For next season I’m planning on getting a Nezumi GMT like yours but on a rubber.

Combined with my birthday (when my wife and friends may get me a watch) or other special occasions, the limit per year is around three watches. Which is not that bad 🤣
