Your opinion about the seconde/seconde collaborations?

In general, I really like seconde/seconde and his fun and unorthodox approach to design. The issue, for me, is that since becoming more recognizable every brand is kinda abusing him for social media attention and it’s getting repetitive and boring. What do you think?

I actually like how many there are, it’s unifying the watch world, from the low end to the high end.

The drawback is that as a potential customer it is a little bit of a “fad”, even if it’s not a bad one.

As a concept it’s definitely not for me, but it’s great to see watches that don’t take themselves too seriously. I prefer to get my fun fix through colours.

I’m going studs-high - I’m tired of it. I find it adds limited appeal to a watch, and possibly dates it a little (i.e. when this sort of 8-bit/cutesy obsession dies down, would you still wear it? Is this essentially expensive watch landfill?). Of course, I am but one opinion, but you asked.

I never saw the appeal, personally. Most of them look like someone slapped a sticker from a $1 store sticker sheet on a perfectly good watch. Maybe this means I'm old 😂

Boring. Was fun while it lasted for the fifteen minutes in the spotlight. That said, they still do some other great collaborations.

For example, the one with Atelier Wen, the Chinese microbrand starter by two french dudes who studied there and wanted to show the world that Chinese doesn't equal cheap.

Atelier Wen (AW) does guilloché dials and the founders rejected 25 or so dials over Zoom and the guilloché master, Master Cheng, cut the dials with a pair of massive shears. When the founders finally saw this in person, they felt guilty as each dial takes 8h to hand turn each one. They eventually got together with Seconde Second and he said that they should "mend" the dials with that gold 'x' stich and keep the nameplate unsigned, to symbolize that beautiful things aren't always perfect and AW didn't deserve their name since they rejected it.

A very cool collaboration that was sold out faster than any of the other watches.

Yes, the AW collab was amazing. I like the Timex for the pure fun, but the latest are sub par.
