You can tell if large chronograph second hand moves smoothly like an automatic, while the small actual second hand ticks like a quartz. A pure quartz chronograph, both second hands will tick.
I’ve had mine for a few months… no patina yet. Like you said, the color is fantastic. Mine is on the supplied leather strap, which I like, but I’d like to visit an AD and see if they can order your nylon strap. I suspect I will carefully clean it after a year. Agree… the traveler is more expensive to make and therefore buy. But, for me, the office GMT or even a World Timer is more useful. For an extended period of time (weeks) I work with a customer or team in another country and always need to know their time of day during the engagement.
German bomber pilots used this watch and the reset pusher was red to make it more obvious. Legend... before it was red, the pilots girl friend would put lipstick on reset pusher to prevent using it by mistake.
