Black Bay 58 925 ‘Quick Update’

One year into owning this silver BB58. Wanted to share with everyone it’s current state and my honest opinion. Not going into details like it’s full review.

It received lots of wrist time this past year. It was my travel buddy when I go on trips. I definitely lost the initial excitement afte the first month. I would give this watch a 7/10.

Very Important: it doesn’t smell like the bronze bb58.

What I love about it is, the color is so unique. Keep in mind because it’s made from silver and has patina, every piece will have some slight color differences. I often see greenish tint on mine. The lume on these Tudor are beautiful. I have it on the fabric strap (nylon I believe), it’s super comfortable like you don’t even feel it sometimes. Note: fabric strap does cover the open case back which defeats the purpose. You can cut it open or I would highly recommend getting the leather strap or bracelet. The crown does sometimes feel rough* and you will notice it when you are screwing the crown in.

You can find these in the resale market for 20% off brand new, 40-50% used. I would recommend get new old stock because you want to experience the whole patina process. At that price point I would give the Watch a 8/10.

Awesome!! Thanks for the update!! I’m getting mine tomorrow !!

I like the idea of a silver watch but am not a huge fan of the patina the silver has. I would rather get a bronze and have it patina over time. I realize though they are very different colors. It is still a beautiful watch. I love all of the black bay line up.

Different person's sweat has different potential to cause discoloration over time. Being a former professional oboist playing on a French oboe with silver keys, I know that if I don't wipe those keys down after every use they take on a nasty green corrosion over time. Beautiful when well cared for, disgusting when not. :)

I’ve had mine for a few months… no patina yet. Like you said, the color is fantastic. Mine is on the supplied leather strap, which I like, but I’d like to visit an AD and see if they can order your nylon strap. I suspect I will carefully clean it after a year. To me, most Tudors look like generic retro dive watches, not any different than a $500 Glycine. While the 925 is very unusual

Total buy as I have had one since April 2021. Maybe my favorite watch, definitely the coolest one I own

On NATO but ordered Artems gray sailcloth for it and also gonna try Delugs rubber straps 👌

·

Didn't know the bronze smelled... Glad I steered clear of that one.

·

Maybe look at a zero pass strap to show the open case back 👌🏻

That grey Delugs looks a little blue to me. I don’t think it suits the watch. But that’s just me. The espresso Rubber B is a favorite pair of mine

It’s definitely a unique watch in terms of the sterling silver.

What I don’t like about all the BB’s is the unpolished section between the lugs. It’s pretty unsightly and gives the impression that Tudor is just lazy. Rolex is the same but I think they intend you to keep it on a bracelet or oyster flex which keeps it covered. I have the 41mm so there’s even more unpolished real estate. Unlike Rolex though, you can buy the Tudor BB with a leather or fabric strap, so it’s not like they don’t see it when they sell it on a strap.

The case of my Seiko Prospex diver is way better finished at a 1/4 of the cost.

I’ve twice been in a shot very, very close to pulling the trigger in the watch. I have been arrived that the silver would look awful after a few years—glad to hear the positive review on that. My other issue is the lack of a date complication…but that’s just a BB thing generally. If it had a date complication, I’d own one right now. They’re beautiful.

Definitely still my favorite black Bay I would also recommend getting new for the whole patina experience. I’ve had mine for a little over two years.

I bought it brand new and sold to my wife’s cousin after a couple of months. I think it was an impulse buy because I had just bought the blue one a month before. Law of diminishing return I suppose.

I owned one for a short 3months period. Hit or miss, I have met a couple other watch enthusiasts who owned the bronze pieces and they all said it smelled bad after a year.

I never understood why Tudor did that but to me it makes the Blackbay lugs unique and adds a little more raw* feel.
