NWA: Seamaster Planet Ocean Ultra Deep 75th Anniversary Addition

There is no way getting around the fact that this Seamaster Planet Ocean Ultra Deep is Massive, but somehow I manage to pull it off on a 17cm (6.75 inch) wrist. Coming in at 45.5mm across and 18.1mm thick it is a chonky Big Boi, but given that it only is 52mm lug-to-lug it's actually quite wearable despite weighing 250 grams. I could not for the life of me though get a good angle of the dial under UV where the watch doesn't seem massive.

But that dial is the star of the show. It's got a dark blue texture that is apparently a relief pattern of the bottom of the Mariana Trench, and the coolest part is the gimmicky secret "Omega was here" text and outline that only shows up under UV light.

The bracelet and clasp are also a big highlight. I’ve tried a lot of “Oyster Style” bracelets that may look the part of a Rolex, but don’t stand up in terms of quality. The bracelet here though really does look like an “Oyster Style” yet has its own distinct character and is 100% on par with Rolex build quality. The clasp however is maybe one of the best over ever tried, save for a Brogioli clasp on an IWC or Glashütte Original where you don’t need to even take off the watch to use the micro adjust. You might have to take this one off to on-the-fly adjust, but it’s chamfered to blend in with the rest of the bracelet.

Now if only I could actually get this thing under some water, even if it's nowhere near it's rated 6000m water resistance, I'll be a real happy camper.

I hadn't seen too many photos of the clasp & bracelet before this. Looks really good.

It’s a beast! But also a beauty! 😍

I agree the Ultra Deep is an impressive timepiece, I was checking out a white dial model a few months ago and without trying the sturdy watch on debated whether I could wear it without ridicule from some friends. I have never measured my wrists, always assumed that it was around 7 inches or just thicker. I was surprised to discover my right wrist measures well over 8inches but still felt the watch to be unsuitable. Not a primary concern but it is also quite expensive to purchase but I think has become the diver to buy from Omega. There will be differences of opinion on that point, I am sure. All points about the watch is accurate from your post, it is an amazing watch.

I just tried on the previous version at the AD. That thing is a BEAST. Watches like that make me wish I had a bigger wrist.

·

It's one of the Ultimate timepieces 💪🏼😍

I hadn’t seen this one before, beautiful piece. It does have some J. Cameron Deep Blue Sea vibes yet stands out.

No question it is a massive leap in price from most other Seamasters, and I was in the fence about wether or not it was worth it.

It’s super subjective but I just found every other model had some compromise for me with either the bezel or the bracelet. I’m hoping at some point they bring this clasp and bezel shape to the regular PO line; it would be an instant buy for me for sure in another color and more moderate size

When I checked out the ULTRA DEEP, we were joking around because my ad knows about my watch choices, Breitling, Panerai and even Omegas which are not small. The bracelet on the Ultra Deep is fantastic, no doubt. I may yet buy an Ultra deep but they are slightly scarce for now.

Best,

Jerry

Truly an interesting Omega release..If I didnt have way to many divers allready (and I live in the Desert LOL). Even compared to my Rolex DEEPSEA that Omega is huge..Enjoy the hobby..👍I am an Omega fan...

·

Awesome piece! Congrats, wear it in good health, Sir! 🍻

·

I've been looking at it a lot. I have a Rolex Deepsea Jes Cameron, and would love to have this one to complement each other. Killer Watch box photos coming...

·

Great watch, I unfortunately moved on from mine, enjoy it!!

·

It not THAT big 😁

Plus I enjoy the feeling of a heavy watch.

·

Of course there are limits 🤣

Such a cool watch! Looks awesome on you too. I have roughly the same sized wrist and it’s great to see that although large, it’s actually pretty doable (although I won’t be going any bigger than my U50 anytime soon). They did a nice job making it look like a beefy Planet Ocean instead of bloated. I think the victory for Omega here was not so much the 6000m, but the fact that this watch is in the realm of wearable. I don’t even remember how deep the Rolex goes, but I don’t care because it’s too massive to actually wear (even if it’s titanium).

Thicc boi.

·

Good lord that is massive! Would love to get your thoughts on the watch after a month on the wrist.

·

Looks like it fell off the wall and trapped you underneath it.....🤣

·

Awesome. My local AD usually has a few Ultra Deeps; I’ll have to see if they’ve got this one in. I know a lot of people aren’t big fans of the hidden lume drawings on this one, but I like having fun.

·

I love my Ultra Deep...great watch...and sits perfectly on my 7.5 inch wrist...
