Casio G-Shock GW-5000U

Hello, all you watch fans. After wearing G-Shocks GW-M5610 for years I came to the conviction that I need a model with a newer module (time display in stopwatch and timer + normal date display in DD/MM format were crucial for me) and since I didn't want to get visually the same watch, the choice fell on the higher model GW-5000U. I've only had it for a short time so far, so I'll save closer impressions for a full review. I'll just show off a few quick photos for now.

I am in a similar situation. I have been wearing a GWM5610 for years, and it is my go to beater watch. I saw a video on the GW5000U (and other Casio watches good and bad) from @MWC2020 several days ago and ordered one for myself. It should be here tomorrow!

The newer GWM5610U's have the DD/MM date choice of the GW5000, as well as showing current time in stopwatch and countdown modes - both use the 3495 module.
The older 5610's used a different module than the "U" version.

The GW-5000U have a steel case, sapphire crystal, screwed back cover, better quality strap, made in Japan with better quality control. He is my favorite and the improved heir to the first g-shock, that's why they call him the prince.

Only mineral crystal, not sure about QC - my 5610 is really well made.

True, mineral crystal. However, even though the 5610 (I have had several) is also very good, it is light years away, different categories of watch.

The GW5000U typically runs about 3X the price of the GWM5610U.

I have one of those on the way. The new module was all the excuse I needed. Finally pulled the trigger.
