Orient Star Salmon dial
So, several Saturdays ago another Cruncher posted about their new LE 38mm Salmon Bambino. I hadn't seen it before and said hey I want one too. As it was, I was super busy that Saturday and couldn't get to the website to buy it.
Then, on Sunday morning @Max posted a video about something else but he had one on too. Of course making breakfast and getting ready for church left no time to place my order. After church my wife wanted to go over to Joann's and I thought perfect, I'll sit in the car and place my order. Too late, in less than 24 hours it had gotten enough attention and was sold out. 😔
So started the hunt for salmon dialed watch. Looking around eBay I found this 1999 model Orient Star. It's a little bit smaller than the 2024 LE Bambino coming in with a 36mm case. And that's fine with me, I prefer smaller watches anyway. So I ordered it up. It came on a pretty nice bracelet but it was too small for me. I picked up this really nice strap on Amazon for $17.
The ad said that it was running fast, I didn't have an issue with that. But when it showed up it was running about 2 1/2 to 3 hours fast a day. I knew it had some other stuff going on with it. I had made a post about it and asked what people thought was wrong with it. The consensus was that it had gotten magnetized. I bought a demagnetizer and it didn't work. So off to my LWM it went.
I just got it back today (along with another watch) and he said he just spent a little bit of time with it. Something was a little off (I can't remember what he said) that was a quick fix and then he set as good as he could. He says it's now running about 20 seconds fast a day. Cost for his service? $5.00.
Now, I have my very own salmon dialed Orient watch. 😁

I get it. I never saw WRUW before coming to this site. And, NWA ment something completely different to me when I was in my early 20's. 😂

Lovely watches all. I believe these are nicknamed as the "Explorients" and I love mine. Does not look out of place next to my friend's Rolex Explorer I and he honestly said "perhaps I should have just bought one of those orient stars and saved myself $10k!". Obviously the Roller is the better watch but I love my watch to pieces!
I want this on bracelet but most I see are probably same scenario and will run small 🫠.
