I am fortunate enough to be taking a trip to Tokyo soon. Any recommendations for any must-visit * watch * related activities in the city? My itinerary...
Jupiter. There’s a whole story behind how I got it and how grateful I am to have it. However, I put in on and…urgh, no.
It looks fantastic in good light. In less perfect lighting, with my older eyes, it takes me a second or two to find the hands since they blend in with the dial colour.
It’s not so noticeable in this photo so it’s probably a “me” problem rather that the watch….but I won’t buy another watch with matching hands and dial.
But I have grown sentimentally fond of the watch and I do really enjoy wearing it now.
Reading this with a slight sense of horror: my grail is a 1861 Speedy Pro and my next watch is likely a Cocktail Time (but one of the newer 38mm styles).
My biggest letdown was the Swatch Moonswatch - I really disliked it for the first few months (hesalite, readability) but I've since grown to love it (hesalite looks great and it's easy to buff scratches out) and now it's a firm favourite.

Brilliant write up as always - I love it when these pop up.
My only very amateur watch spotting this week was an Omega Seamaster Diver 300M circa 2017 and a Grand Seiko - possibly a SBGP007 - but I was too far away to identify exactly. Nothing too exotic yet.
