Help me decide on the ‘final’ watch

Rather than stuffing them in my sock drawer, I finally purchased a cheap but functional watch box to properly store and display my collection. One slot remains, see below…

[Limit Quartz] - My newest (to me) watch found in a box of my late Grandad’s belongings. Also my only square watch. As an architect with an eye for detail, he fully appreciated the mechanical engineering behind every watch. He also recognised a quartz does the same thing for a fraction of the price! Ever thrifty, this is probably my most prized watch in my collection.

[Casio Duro] - My first purchase after discovering the rabbit hole of watches and eventually this subreddit. This is the home watch. Something to get covered in spaghetti bolognaise or bath the baby. Incredibly comfortable and very versatile.

[Hamilton Khaki Field] - Outside of the house, this definitely gets the most wrist time. Whether on the original or using this (now distressed) leather NATO, it goes with my work attire remarkably well and is so convenient not having to set the date each time it goes on my wrist, particularly for a hand-wound piece. I adore the matte finish all over. A very subtle piece.

[Montblanc Heritage Spirit] - Subconsciously purchased due to it’s very similar appearance to a grail dress watch (JLC Master Ultra Thin), this was my 30th birthday present from my wife and fortunately sees a lot more wrist time than it should due to wearing dark suits for work on occasion. It’s scratched, bashed and bruised and even makes a slightly louder ticking sound when held vertically, it’s probably due a service soon, but only because I wear it more often than I should.

[Seiko Samurai] - My summer watch, this is the Save the Ocean ‘Great White’ edition as identified by a subtle shark fin just left of the Prospex logo on the glorious sunburst wave dial. Of course I don’t actually dive, but my wife and I eying up a holiday in the future where one day it might visit the deep dark depths of >2m. For now, I’ll stick with the pool. It wears quite big but looks great on short and long sleeves alike.

[The Missing Slot] - I am considering one final edition to scratch my watch itch. I’m looking at black dial integrated steel sports watches that are at or below the £2000 mark. I tried on and adored the Tudor Royal Day-Date but also unsure if I want the smaller date only. I’m also considering the PRX, either PM80 or even the Chrono if it doesn’t look ridiculous. I have quite large wrists but do gravitate to smaller watches. That said, the Seiko is loud and proud and I love that still. Other options also include the Sinn 556 Mother of Pearl as left-field option. If the CW12 titanium came with a solid black dial, I’d have purchased this already…

I welcome thoughts, opinions and recommendations for this latest slot. I plan to purchase it to celebrate the end of my part-time PhD.

Thanks.

Looks like a GMT would round out your collection :)

Your missing a chronograph and also an aviation watch.

I feel the road less travelled is the best option. Final slot can be a micro brand that as of today has the potential to be a big watch name in the future.

·

Seems likely that they will come out with a CW12 with a black dial if you can wait.

If it’s in titanium, I will snatch that up. I submit my thesis early next year.

·

Casio square G Shock. It’s called that because you’ll shocked at how comfortable and practical they are (well, not really).

·

Casio G-Shock or some chronograph.

·

A chronograph I'd have thought, and with a bit of colour.

·

Seagull 1963 chronograph.

In case of integrated:

Baume & Mercier Riviera

Alpina Alpiner

Nivada Grenchen F77

Another Idea:

Rado True Square Plasma High Tech Ceramic

That blue Oris!

·

Someone already suggested chronograph or GMT. I'm gonna go with chronograph, but it could be possible to find a chronograph/gmt.

·

You might think about something like a Citizen Eco-Drive GMT like this.

That Riveria is stunning. Never seen it before. Must be under a rock. Thank you.

Vintage Air King with 3 6 9 in 34mm 👍

·

Christopher Ward The 12. Great choice for integrated under 2000.

Might I suggest the Maen Skymaster 38 MK III. A solid micro brand out of the Netherlands. Its a smaller Chrono, as per your spec. Would fill out that niche as well as being from a micro! Congrats on the PhD!

A chrono with integrated bracelet (read: Chrono PRX) will complete your watch box 😁

I have one. It punches way above its super low cost. Looks even better in person than on pictures. I highly recommend it.

·

G-Shock for sure.

What about an Omega Aqua Terra? Those a pretty cool sports watches that can do anything IMO

·

Casio G-Shock gwm5600 it is a durable, accurate, easily readable, comfortable, lightweight, a lot of functions like stop watch ,dual time ,alarm etc. And the cherry on top tough solar which mean it has indefinitely unlimited battery life.

Also it has 200m water resistance, atomic and about $200

·

You got 2 divers 2 dress watch and 1 field watch. Maybe look into a chronograph? Like the seagull?

·

find a nice GMT or a Chrono… maybe both and say adios to one of the divers…

·

This is a lovey collection. Thanks for sharing. Funny thing, I still chuck my 10 watches in the sock drawer. 😁

Or a bit more upscale (and a bit less black) Tutima Saxon One M:

Seriously, you and I both know that there will never be FINAL watch!! LOL enjoy the hobby

·

Baumé et Mercier Riviera 5 day power reserve sapphire dial PVD is the one I keep looking at. I have a Tudor Royal day Date. I love it when I am wearing it or get accustomed to the size. Though it’s only 41mm I feel like it wears just as broad as some 43mm divers I have. Pretty sure it’s because it’s soooo wide where the bracelet attaches

Let's face it that fume blue dial on the titanium CW12 is so nice. (Might also add a splash of colour to the collection) (P.S. You also have enough leftover cash for a Seiko 5 GMT).
