Organisation

How do you organise, store and present your watches? I’m trying to subdue my entropic tendencies.

I don't display them, I have them well kept in briefcases with locks.

Well I did have a single watch box that I quickly outgrew. Then I got another so now I have 3 watch boxes that don't match or even fit in the same space. So I have been thinking about building a custom watch cabinet out of those alex drawers from IKEA. I ordered just watch trays and am finding a way to either build from scratch or customize an already existing cabinet to hold them all will update with results.

In watch boxes of varying capacity in a willy nilly, random, devil may care fashion, based on the don't he decimal system.

·

I have a watch case with 36 slots but nearly every second slot is been filled with a watch. This way I have more room to structure the watches according to colors etc, looks like this

I admire the ambition. I’ll look at those alternatives.

I have a sack that I bury in the garden… not 100% made up either

I went with a Rothwell. A little pricier but I think they're worth it. Unfortunately, I'm outgrowing mine. I need to downsize.

There is an element of security there, if not safety!

Kind of where I’m at. Storage: okay. Retrieval: not so much!

Anyone ever told you that you look like the badass Gus Fring?

At 400 watches, it's a challenge. I have 10 flat 24-watch display cases, several 36-watch cases with drawers, many on and in my home office desk/drawers, solar and G-Shocks are charging on multiple window sills plus some are frequently locked away in the safe.

Not to mention the original boxes and papers in large Rubbermaid containers in storage rooms. And I only keep these for probably half the overall collection.

Plus travel watch rolls and nicer travel cases which some brands have been providing.

But I'll never stop growing the collection!

I have this exact one in black. Love it! Very organised and well made 👌🏼 can recommend

Sad to say. I may end up needing another. I need to start downsizing

Due to the fact that I collect mostly Timex which are very affordable especially in the world of luxury horology, it's easy to accumulate a lot of watches rather quickly. I decided to take a page out of Action Figure collectors where the enjoyment is making a mini museum in their homes to display them. I liked that idea so I gave it a shot. Here is a short video I put on Instagrram and believe it or not, I added more to it since then.

Lastly, thanks for teaching me a new word (entropic) and excuse my heavy breathing while filming this, I was 25 lbs heavier.

That’s a first for me! Thank you…

I'd guide you to my profile header (or title?). I have a Hexagonal Display and Carry-Case from Daily Watch and one extra box from a retail Seiko fpr my G-Shock

·

I have several watch boxe, most of which are full now. I would kinda like to have them more on show though.

I currently organise mine into Dress, Divers, Chronograph, Field/Pilot and GADA. Although I may change to colours at some point. 🤣🤣

Thanks

Remember the opening montage of the 1960s comedy spy show "Get Smart" - basically that.

I’d love to get a built-in winder in my closet. Like Doctor Strange’s. 😝👊🏼

Nice scheme. I do keep a rough division between work and dress watches. Most of the solar powered pieces live under an LED desk lamp, which keeps these topped off- couple live on a window sill so the can tune to WWV.
