Should I sell my Khaki King and get a Murph?

Hey guys! I love my Hamilton Khaki King but I think it wears too big for my wrist because of its 49mm lug to lug. Should I sell it and buy Hamilton Murph 38mm. I would love to hear your comments.

Why? The murph is just a marketing gymick with fewer features

·

Only if you are sure about that Murph, have you tried it on your wrist? If not I would say no too risky...

Good point. I would definitely prefer this watch if it was 38mm. I love its day date function. But I am not fully sure with it because of its size.

Yes. I really liked it but I dont think that the murph is a strap monster like this because of its vintage style.

That's a pickle, the watch addict would say save and buy the Murph as a sidekick to the khaki, but my long-gone reasonable self is saying sure go for it.

Size don’t matter!

That looks pretty nicely sized on your wrist to my eyes. If you’re uncomfortable wearing it, by all means make the switch.

I have no complaints with the Murph 38.

I think the murph is a more attractive watch and I don’t like cutouts on the Khaki King… but how I feel about the watches should mean zilch to you. Good luck! 👍

It looks perfect!

The watch looks fine!

I’m more of a fan of the looks of the murph. Plus I love the film haha.

·

If you don't loose money on the process it's worth a try

Thanks man. I feel the same

·

I would, but you shouldn't listen to me as I am very prejudiced against day/date watches.

·

The khaki king is a favourite of mine. The Murph is fairly cool but I would stick with the Khaki King. Only my view mind!

·

Honestly I always thought the khaki king had wayyy more style than the murph. Also, the murph proportions are quite awkward cause those lugs are long ag

·

Love the Khaki King, but I'm more partial to the Murph. Primarily because I lean towards the more military style. They're obviously both in that general style, but the Murph leans more that way.

It's beautiful! If you go to sell let me know where your selling it. IMHO it looks just fine on your wrist. For reference here is my 34mm 9445b on my wrist

Looks great!

Looks fine to me.

I'm in the same dilemma with my Khaki Field auto 42. I regretted to not choosing the 38mm, and now selling to buy the 38, the price difference is big.

·

That's a keeper. In 20 years you'll be glad you kept it. Mine says "hi".

I like the watch you're wearing!

From those picks it appears that

  1. The watch in those photos looks great on your wrist. Seems to fit you really well

  2. Your wrists seem to be somewhere around 16-18 cm, and at least for my 17cm wrists 49mm lug to lug should wear fine, as should 40-42mm diameter

Murph is a decent watch but I like the way the field king auto looks and imo its better value

Also depends on what it's gonna be used for. King is a better for a daily, whilst Murph 38 is more of a dress watch

Fair point. The problem is that I like smaller watches so I am going to change it if I am not going to lose money.

How long have you had it? I'd say wear just the king for 2 weeks straight and you'll get used to the size, I have both a 42mm and a 36m in my collection. It took time getting used to both, and still can throw me off if I swap between them, but now both wear great on my wrist and I like the variety of style and size

I have bought it last year. It was my first watch. My other watches are a 35mm omega speedmaster classic and a 38mm seiko srpk. When I wear this it feels huge 😂

·

Always up to you, but I think the King auto is a beautiful watch. I have it in all Black and love it. I’d keep it.

Fair enough. At the end of the day wear what you like and what makes you happy. If you think you are better suited to the murph then go for it

If you just want a smaller version of what you have tho, there is the hamilton khaki field auto which is a lot more similar to the king, and it comes in 38mm

·

If you can go smaller go. And I personnaly prefer the murph.
