Which watch should I take?

Hi everyone! I'm going to my hometown for a day this week, and I would like to take only the watch on my wrist, just to keep it simple. The thing is, I'll go walk a trail in the woods in the afternoon, and then I'll have dinner in a nice hotel restaurant. These situations don't usually call for the same type of watch. I'll probably be wearing jeans and a t-shirt because that's about all I have, so it'll be pretty casual. My girlfriend is gonna be wearing her Garmin Forerunner for both activities because it's her only watch. As for me, I'm hesitating between four watches. 1- Timex Expedition North mechanical. A field watch on a bracelet doing field watch things, and then being simple enough to work well at dinner. 2- G-Shock DW5600. A real rugged watch, but still stealth enough to go somewhat unnoticed at dinner among the Garmin and Apple Watches. 3- G-Shock GA-2100 (red). Another rugged watch, but unapologetically bold at the dinner table. It makes a statement. 4- Pagani Moonwatch. The least rugged of the bunch, but it's on a NATO and supposedly has 100 meters of water resistance in case it gets wet. It's the most appropriate for dinner though. I know which one I'm leaning towards, but I'm curious to know what you think!

If people can take trains and treks in apple watch, the pagani can definitely survive it.

I choose the Pagani, but the Timex would work as well.

But if you are just wearing jeans & a t-shirt to the dinner, any of the 4 would clear the bar

I would have went with the Casioak if it were a different color way (not sure how fancy your dinner will be). Otherwise, the Timex Expedition is a great choice, and might be a low key pick for one-watch collections.

That's a good point!

You're right about that!

I feel this Timex is way underrated! I love that thing!

And I've actually been pondering the idea of getting a neutral-colored CasiOak (or a full-metal one 🤤) for the versatility of the style.

Agreed about the Timex. It looks good in all conditions. Wonder if they’ll ever make one with a mechanical or auto movement.

CasiOak is nice and affordable enough to get a versatile one and a bold one. The full metal is nice too but pricey. There’s one with a metal case and plastic strap which could be a compromise.

I would choose the Timex. It's perfect for trekking and small/stylish enough for a not too formal dinner. 👍

·

Definitely the Timex! Good for both occasions.

This Timex model is mechanical! It has a hand-wound movement. It's a chinese one, but it's way cheaper than a Hamilton, so I can't complain.

I agree about the metal CasiOak being pricey... The metal body and resin strap is definitely an option I would consider.

That's what I'm thinking!

I'd say regular G Shock if dinner is not too formal. Otherwise Timex if you want analog for dinner, lol. I'd would have said CasiOak if it was a different color.

Thanks! These are my first two choices, but the CasiOak is going up on the list, I might be feeling bold, who knows!

So guys, I was able to go to Europe for a week with only one watch (DW-5600), but I couldn't decide for today 😅 So I did the "trek" with the DW-5600 and now I'm wearing the Pagani for dinner! Third world problems I guess...

The Timex even more better that is mechanical. Wear a nice strap with that and good cheers! 🍻

I don't know what strap would pair well with that watch... I tried a black nato and didn't like it at all, so for now it stays on the bracelet!

I'd take the Gshock 5600 .. but on a side note-- does the Pagani have a ceramic or aluminum bezel insert?

I think it's a ceramic insert!

The chinese are perfecting their watch-making game quite quickly.
