Damasko or Sinn?

So I’ve been considering adding a new watch to my collection and I want a good GADA watch. I’ve narrowed it down to this two options:

1) Damasko DS30

2) Sinn 556A

I’ve been having such a hard time trying to decide between this two because I think I would prefer a Damasko, but I’m afraid that the dimensions of this one would be a bit to big for my 6.5” wrist, specially for an everyday watch. On the other hand (or should I say on the other wrist 🤔😅) (sorry for the dad’s joke, I can resist them at my age lol) the lug to lug distance of the Sinn would suit better my wrist.

So here is a little summary of what’s on my mind:

•Damasko Pros ✅

-Great case with robust and resistant material.

-Great legibility due to the long minutes hand.

-Perfect for a casual everyday watch

-I feel that has that unique feeling due to the sub steel and those beautiful hands.

•Sinn Pros ✅

-Better lug to lug distance that probably would look better on my wrist and would be better for an everyday watch.

-More versatile watch, would look better on a leather strap and would be more appropriate to dress up.

-Also good legibility. Despite the fact that the hands are not that long, I like the numbers at 12, 3, 6 and 9.

•Damasko Cons ❌

-Possible long lug to lug distance.

-Maybe would look ok on a leather strap, but not great for more dressy scenarios.

-Very expensive bracelet.

•Sinn Cons ❌

-I’m really struggling to find flaws here. Maybe it’s a more “boring” watch.

But I really like “boring” watches, that the beauty of them relies on its simplicity. So maybe thanks to writing this I have made a decision, but still would like to hear your opinions and thoughts on this.

Also if you have pictures of this watches I would love to see them, specially on your wrists and maybe with some good straps pairings

I find the Sinn to not be boring. The light play off the satinized finish is captivating. I also love how the white hands sort of float over the dial because the base of the hands is black and blends in with the dial.

Too much happening on the Damasko dial. Or am I just biased because I have been looking at getting the Sinn too?

That’s true. I also like the floating hands as well

I’d definitely go with the Sinn and get the better fit. I have a 6.75” wrist and it fits great. The red seconds hand gives it a nice pop of color and keeps it from being too boring.

I vote for the Sinn. If you are worried it may be too “boring” you could go with the RS version with a little pop of red to spice it up

They're both great but I have a fondness for Sinn

Not worried at all. In fact I am enchanted by that boringness 😅

I was facing the same decision, and went with the Damasko. I opted for the yellow seconds had for a bit more visual interest.

The two main selling points for me with the DS30 were the thinness, and the hardened U-Boat steel.

On top of that the Damasko is less common, which appeals to me more than buying the same boring watches "everybody" says you should.

Looks really good on your wrist. What’s the size of your wrist?

I have the DK30, which is the upgraded, in-house movement. I special ordered it from Long Island Watch with a red seconds hand. It is about the same price as the Sinn. The DS30 is cheaper. I think the Sinn wears thicker, but other than that, they wear pretty much the same. I would say it comes down to which dial you prefer to look at.

About 7".

It came on a leather strap, that looked good, but I prefer a MN strap.

Those are very comfortable straps and the combination is just perfect 👌🏽

Sure. I will post some pics once I get it, right now I’m leaning more the Sinn but two days ago I was sure I wanted the Damasko 😅

·

Have owned both. Kept the Sinn, gave it to my daughter and bought another Sinn to replace it. Sinn is the winner.

Lucky you that your daughter is into watches and that you can buy two Sinns 😂

I Had almost the same dilemma. Except I wanted the Damasko with the orange second/ chrono hand. Vs the Sinn with the red second hand were my choices

I love the 3 hand chrono of the damasko but it Is a big chunky watch for every day wear . In the end I went for a Sinn 105 st sa in black & am happy with it !
