Tudor BB P01

So I’ve been working on trying to change out the original hybrid leather band and found this shark mesh from WatchGecko. It took some cutting and adjustments to shorten it enough but I love the final product. It fits great and I love wearing it now. Still not a daily wear but a fun casual weekend Pease. I had two people ask about it today because it really stands out. I’m not sure if that’s good or bad but it really doesn’t matter. I love the uniqueness of it.

Welcome to the P01 club! It’s a marmite watch that I absolutely love!

To the uninitiated, I.e. non-watch nerds, 99.99% of the population, it looks like any dive watch on wrist.

thank you. I love it and also love the history of it. I am going to have a hard time taking it off the wrist now.😂

·

And it fits your 7 inch wrist well!

My left wrist is a tiddly 6.75 inches (yes, the 0.25 inch does make a difference 😆), but I can still pull it off as my wrists are flatter/wider on the top and I’m not a small guy (by Asian standards).

It finds its way into my rotation every other week.

I purchased my PO1 along with a BB58 from my multi brand ad whose family owns 2 very successful boutiques here in the GTA but I do not receive first call on a lot of Tudors since the brand is retailed from the location that I do not shop from, not sure the BB58 would have been available without taking the PO1 at the time. I wore the 58 for a very short period before passing it along to my daughter: she needed a daily watch and it is too small for my liking. My ad’s family have been selling watches for a long time, he feels that Tudor misread its customer base when the PO1 was launched, a lot of persons buying the watches are either new to wearing watches or just not true enthusiasts. Personally, I feel Tudor was just lazy about designing a metal bracelet for the PO1 or even a quality OEM rubber option because that strap is not incentive for the average customer.

Looks like it’s part of a medieval knight’s armor

Also has a really cool history.

One of the few luxury watches I would own TBH.

The other being the FXD's 😂.

I would definitely agree and I think a metal band works great for this watch whether it’s a shark mash or other. There are some good aftermarket rubber options that can be cut down to fit as well.

Exactly so I wear it on days when I need a little testosterone boost😂

The history drew me in and I got it for a great rate so I figured it was worth giving it a try. I had not been able to try one on so it was a bit of a gamble but turned out to be well worth it.

I am a little lazy about sourcing after market strap options from the internet, always thought Tudor might introduce an OEM metal but according to my ad sales are slow, the model might even be discontinued. A few of my watch friends do not buy Tudor but also are puzzled by the criticism the PO1 receives, they reason a lot of the haters love Seikos and G-shocks which are just as ugly, haha. 🙃

I’m one of those that loves the fact that it has a polarizing effect. I also was hoping it would be discontinued as that would only help with the potential value overtime.

I suspect the best result will be appreciation of an interesting watch design some years in the future. When I collected vintage Rolex I foolishly ruthlessly sold off nice Tudors that I picked up concurrent with the more desirable Rolex watches. Common knowledge that sometimes scarcity also determines a watch’s value one day. I think of some of the late 50s Tudors that I sold off for coins feel regret.

·

That is super cool! The fact you manipulated it to fit is my thing totally. I love when you can do something to get a totally different look. The watch feels new again. Congrat friend! Great job!

·

It looks great and goes with the overall watch theme. I love it!

·

Looks like the endlinks stick over the case and has a huge gap.

Optics or reality !?

·

This looks fantastic and I would buy if Tudor offered it this way. Yes, I’m too lazy to mod the mesh!

I hear you but it was actually quite easy. There are a lot of options out there but I went with a shark match from WatchGecko. I had a watch repair shop cut some extra links to shorten it.

I’m not sure if this is what you’re referring to but these are one of the unusual parts about the watch. It comes with these extra side links and that’s what the OEM band attaches to. They are not removable and as a result require a much shorter band. One of the challenges. The band that I purchased had 4 removable links but I still cut 3 more rows from each side. The band has 3 micro adjustments plus I can add links if needed.

·

Looks sick on this bracelet

·

It looks great with the mesh. I personally think it's one of the best current Tudors.

·

I agree and one of the favorites of mine to wear, especially now with the mesh.
