Any feedback from the group on a decent watch from 1935 to consider as a gift for my dad for Fathers Day. He is never been really into watches but I know he appreciates them and I thought it might be a fun gift. Nothing that breaks the bank, as he certainly won’t wear it every day at his age so maybe no more than $1500. While I would like it to be authentic I’m not too concerned if it has been restored. Also, I have never seen any metal bands from that era but it seems like that would be easier for him to get on and off but that may not be in the cards.

One of the challenges is accurately dating those watches but as their movements were numbered and recorded, I would suggest looking for a Waltham.
You are in the right place both to look for those and also to have it serviced.

Thanks! How about Hamilton as well?
Yes - Hamilton too! I am less familiar with how easy it is to date those accurately, but assuming so, then Hamilton and Elgin could be in the mix.

Awesome, thanks!
Look at some swiss brands at chrono and filter year production, I saw some great omegas there

Will do. I’ve had good luck with purchases from Chrono
The 1930s were a renaissance period for watches, so there a innumerable choices😳 I agree with the there comments about Waltham and Hamilton being good choices. If you have time, I suggest going to your local library and flipping through a price guide. They break it down by brand, model, year, price, etc. When you find something that you like, you can start your Google search 😊

Mine is 25 years old, but still comes in handy for identifying odd pieces that I come across
