I 3D printed an IRL Islander logo desk clock

For some reason I got the crazy idea to try to make an actual functional clock out of the much maligned Islander logo (which I actually like).

I designed it all in Tinkercad. The tiny arrow on the center cap points to minutes, but still blends in to the large blue hour hand. The indices are shallow divots in the white dial that are subtle enough not to disrupt the plain white disk of the actual logo. I really like how it turned out!

Nice work, keep an eye out for your cease and desist letter.

Cool!

How did you get a high resolution digital image of the logo?

I kid. This is clever and well executed. These universal little AA-powered quartz clock movements are used for all sorts of giant clocks with long hands, so I shouldn't be surprised that they can handle this.

The hour hand is thin and very lightweight. The dial is only 8 cm.

Here’s another project clock I printed a couple days ago. A Fibonacci spiral clock.

The logo seems to work a lot better on the newer models where he’s started making it smaller and adding “Islander” directly beneath.

That is pretty sharp. good job.

Hell ya, that's cool!!!

I am not an Islander logo fan personally on the watch that is, but your clock is great, and the others too. You could start a business !

Hell, Marc should hit him up for a copy of his own!

Is this the one Marc has hanging on the wall in his newer videos? Very cool.

This was an earlier desk clock version. But yes, I printed a bigger and more refined wall clock that I sent to Marc. That’s the one in his videos.
