What people do with their own money is their business, and it’s not my place to say they should or shouldn’t spend X amount on a watch.
As far as my own collecting goes, I cannot justify spending more than $1k on a watch. Even then, it’s going to take a lot to get me to consider one that’s over $500. I don’t see the point when you can easily get good specs and great looks without uselessly spending money that could go somewhere more useful. If I’m tempted to spend more than $500, it’s usually only because I like the looks a watch has. That feels like a silly reason to spend more money since I know I can find one I like just as much at a lower price point.
Of course, I’m also drooling over the Hamilton Murph these days and fully plan to buy one, and it’s only because I like the looks. So what the hell do I know.
The white and yellow are both fantastic, and I’d be happy to have either. I think the yellow just barely nudges out the white, though.
It looks like a medic watch based on the fact that it has a pulsometer. Mido is a good brand, and The Multifort line has been around since before WWII, but yours obviously doesn’t look as old as that. Here’s some history from the Mido website.
