Grand $eiko $$$$$$$$$$$$$

I finally went and browsed Grand Seiko's site to look at their offer.  I'm shocked to see that GS priced their most of their pieces well above $40,000 USD, a lot over $100,000 USD, yes I had to check to make sure it wasn't quoted in Yen.

I compared it with Omega, and comparatively, Omega is way more affordable with a lot more pieces offered at or below $10,000 USD.

I'm aware that GS is the premium line, and they're trying to leverage price skimming to bolster their brand image (yes, my undergrad major was marketing management. And yes, Dorothy, it's a actual college degree to be earned, not simply posting 100 times in FB or tik-tok and you declare yourself a marketer), but seems they over-shot the goal line here a bit here.

Oh, dude, maybe you were looking at only their Masterpiece line?  The vast, vast, vast majority of their watches sell for roughly Omega MSRP.

Here, try this link:

Was going to say exactly what @Omeganut said.  The masterpiece collection is their super high end haute horology stuff.  Its like if you only looked at solid gold Globemaster annual calendars.

I would say their website is...not well organized so it's easy to get lost in the collections.

The heritage, sport and elegance collections are the bulk of their collection and much more attainably priced.

What Omeganut and Edge said. Most of their watches are priced at reasonable tiers; 9Fs - $3K-$5K, Spring Drives $4K-$7K, and Hi Beat $4-10K.

·

Even in Australia, most of their collection is between 4 to 10K, that's AUD not USD, so I don't what section you we're looking at. Maybe they though you had way more money than you actually do to spend on a watch.

Do what I do and wear your work clothes, for me it's all tradie gear, so bright orange and work trousers, then you get shown the lower end pieces first before you ask to see the higher end watches.

I would suggest staying away from Credor as well. Seikos even higher end then GS, Japanese market only.

Agree! The website has serious problems and, for me a broken search function.

For entry level mechanical GS, try the Elegance Series. These are simply wonderful

Yeah the entire Seiko website setup is absolute trash so I don’t blame you for getting lost. Every time Seiko or GS releases something new it’s like trying to find the formula for Cold Fusion on their sites.

I think you may have visited the wrong collection on the site. I'm not a fan of it, but it was a bit of a shock when I visited it. Their prices aren't too bad, they are moving up market though as are many other brands.
