Henry Archer - any good?

Google ads are an inevitable part of life, like taxes and dental bills, but for once, they led me to something interesting.

Never heard of the Danish Henry Archer microbrand before but they make a very 'Zelos' like line of divers. This one caught my eye - 40/20 and just 10.5mm thick. It also has a nice colour palette and the Orange scond hand just pops. No details about the movement but it is a proper no-date rather than ghost date.

Anyone any experience with this micro?

Basically for most Micros you are buying the design powered by one of the standard commercially available movements.

What you typically lose out on is brand name/recognition/reputation and unknown after sales support.

You have to weight if it's worth it to you for what you are getting for the money.

That said, the watch looks pretty good.

There’s details about the movement on the spec list, Miyota 9039. It’s one of the “premium” offerings from Miyota, bridges are a bit decorated -you can see them behind the display case back- and has a high beat frequency. The watch seems reasonably priced for that movement.

Looks like a submariner with a very pretty dial and the rest of the parts like the bracelet and clasp look like its made by the same supplier who supplies for Zelos and CW. Won't be surprised if it is made by the same factory supplying the good micros. It has a Miyota 9039 so pretty solid movement for the price.

Don't have any experience or never heard of the brand but the overall package looks quite good for the price. Very Zelos like with dial design in their other models too.

Thanks - just as you say. As well as no datewheel, the hand stack is lower, which all adds up to this being a millimetre or two thinner than your average micro!

Yes that's what I thought - the clasp looks very familiar to my CW.

Its made by the same manufacturer and has made it to most micro brand watches. Just the finishing and logo changes based on the specifications.

Just another one of these generic kind of watches, with some blokes name on the dial, that really push being designed somewhere "cool" but I bet is produced alongside all the $100 AliExpress watches and 99.9% of people will have no brand recognition for it if you want to change things up in the future and go to sell it. So, long story short, like any watch - buy it because you really love it and can't live without it. Otherwise, it's just a pretty watch that won't hold value and is a waste of time versus great stuff out there.

Very nice. Henry Archer doesn't sound very Danish, but no matter.

It is a nice looking watch. Sort of a stripped-down Seamaster. I like the attempt to maybe reinterpret rather than honor, or copy…

So many micro brands. So little time.

Good watch for the money. They're known for there purple dials. I have one and it wears really great. I plan on purchasing a few more in the future.

Yes, it's a proper no date. Super easy to set. They just released a new bracelet with micro adjust as well.

Checked out Henry Archer site and scrolled down to find this. What a looker! Now who was it who posted about blue dress watches a little while ago… 🤔
