Wedding Watches

Recently got married and wore my grandfather's (via my uncle) Girard Perregaux Gyromatic. Admittedly I'd been looking for a watch of my own (ahem Rolex black dial OP, engraved caseback etc. etc.). But when that didn't come to pass, was more than happy to wear a little bit of family history. And one of the more underrated brands at the moment IMO.

Any other wedding watches out there?

Congrats on your recent marriage. Great classy looking watch (and that strap suits it perfectly).

I'm coming up on my 42nd anniversary, and my wedding watch was this Seiko Memory Bank Calendar watch that my fiancé had given me as an engagement present. I don't really wear it, but keep it as a cherished part of my collection.

I agree that Girard Perregaux is an under rated brand. I picked up this G.P. Richeville model last year, primarily because I was intrigued by the tonneau shaped case, and the font used for the hour markers.

That Seiko is something else! With how ubiquitous watches like the Casio F-91W are today, this has got to be one of the first models to look like this. Very cool. And that GP has a ton of character. Congrats on 42 years!

Thank you - those 42 years have gone by way too fast. Back in 1980 that was considered a pretty special and high end watch, and I was absolutely thrilled to have it. Check out this old advert. How times have changed 😀

For my wedding, I wore my JLC Master Control:

But my now-wife did gift me this as an engagement gift:

My dad gave me this 28 years ago when I got married. It still works and I’m still married to the same great gal!

Congrats, and wishing you all the best! Your grandfather's watch is perfect. 😉Congrats too, to all of you gents! Cheers and more power to you all. 💪🍻

Oh, and IF I were to get married again, I'd wear the simple yet classy dress watch my Dad wore for many years as an officer in the Navy, which he passed on to me before he passed away. It's THE most important piece in my humble collection. (edited)

I thought the engagement watch was more of an Asian thing, with that still being a rather modern and rare in that subset.

I know it's not what watch enthusiasts want to hear, but I'm of the old school etiquette of not wearing a watch for parties or formal occasions. I believe I'm paraphrasing Emily Post who said something like "Do you have other plans later today?"

This is super cool. I had no idea how much functionality was packed into a watch, practically a PDA. Really interesting too to see quartz advertised as the innovation it was at the time.

Thanks! And similarly, this is my most important watch in my collection. Something to remind me of my grandfather.

I would counter that, having now gotten married, that day is almost entirely where to be and when. I was looking at my watch constantly until it was time to walk down the aisle.

Looking at this photo now, I had a little over five minutes to tie my tie and get out the door to meet the photographer for "First Look" photos scheduled from 3:00 to 3:30!

Totally! Congrats again, bud!

Mine was my Explorer II I just munched.  In for repair.  Congrats and many blessings!

Congratulations on your wedding.

Nice watch, and good to have a a piece of your family with you on your big day!

·

Congratulations on your wedding!  I just took out the watch I wore on my wedding to wear on my anniversary.  It was my only watch and daily wearer for 20+ years (until I got sucked into this hobby) and as you can tell by the date, I love it but need to give it more wrist time.

Like my marriage, it's been working great for almost 30 years (with one hiccup at year 5 to replace a broken stem). Congratulations and Good Luck (with getting the Rolex/ I'm sure the marriage part will be great).

This was my wedding day watch #cartier #roadster

I’m getting married in September but this is the watch I’m planning on wearing (unless I’m gifted one for the big day by my fianceé, father, groomsmen, etc.)

As someone who has a watch from the Master Collection, I say good choice, sir!

Great choice, mine fit into a simple outdoor ceremony on a warm July day

Belated congratulations on your wedding!!! Below is one of my wedding photo with our friends. I was wearing a submariner and my wife the date just. 🍻

I disagree completely. The only reason I got married was that so I could wear my "Kick-Ass Wedding Watch" to the wedding.

That's a good look. I'm guessing that's an older one.

Yes, it’s from the ‘90’s.
