I am in the same boat. There are so many micro brands out there making watches that really appeal to me. Unfortunately, I recently had a negative experience with a micro brand watch that I was really excited about. They ended up sending me 2 timepieces, both of which were broken almost immediately. While they were professional enough to refund all my money and pay for shipping, I am now really hesitant to purchase any watches from companies that don't have a good track record of quality and longevity.
As someone with very little budget to spend on watches, even a small investment is a big deal. My budget Seiko and Orient watches worked great right out of the box and have had no issues. So spending a bit more for a really awesome micro brand that didn't work out has kind of taken away a lot of my enthusiasm for watches in general. I will probably get over it pretty quickly...haha.
The good part of this experience is that I am now acutely aware of warranty and return policies for any brands I am interested in...
