Rolex Oysterflex - What Do you Think?

For me, the Everose YM on an Oysterflex might be the best combination of looks/comfort that Rolex does. I was not a fan of the YM at all until I tried on the combination above (in 37mm). It felt so solid and soft at the same time - difficult to explain. Also because it’s black, can be worn most daily outfits. Winner. Should also be an option on OP’s and smooth bezel DJ’s imo…

Wonder why they don’t just call it rubber? I also hear that rolex is going to stop shipping watches with anything leather. Is that true?

I agree; I wasn't a fan of the Yacht-Master with Oysterflex when it first came out - but the watch has definitely grown on me! The 37 Everose is a stunning model.

I think the Submariner would be the next obvious choice for the Oysterflex treatment - it would make so much sense on a diver! But Rolex doesn't always go the obvious route, so who knows 😜

Its rubber with a titanium core.  Its not quite the same.

And Rolex would never pass up an opportunity to brand something!

As for the leather thing...does that mean they're going to stop making Cellinis?  I would be onboard with that.

Rolex avoids calling it a rubber strap because it's a metal titanium/nickel blade with a rubber coating. So more bracelet-like in construction.

Nobody really knows Rolex's plans - it's one of the most secretive companies out there. However, most Rolex watches with leather straps have indeed been phased out; the only remaining one still in production is the Cellini Moonphase. And who knows how long that model will still be around? I don't see it sticking around for too much longer.

I did find an Oyster Flex-style rubber strap for my Sub. I prefer it to the bracelet (not that the bracelet isn’t comfortable). Makes it stand out from the crowd a little

I think they are awesome and as has been pointed out, it much more than a rubber strap; both in materials and construction, but sadly don’t own one. Recently had a chance at a gold Daytona with an Oysterflex, but couldn’t bring myself to buy it. Rubber, no matter who makes it breaks down eventually into a sticky gooey mess. Ask anyone who owned an 80s Italian sports car.

That said, the rubber strap that comes on some SMPs remains better than their bracelets, even for a seemingly basic rubber strap.

It looks very comfortable, I know the rubber strap on my Omega AT is one of the most comfortable I have. Much of that is due to the scalloping on the inside. It seems the Oysterflex has that too.

The last model YM-ER was my silly grail piece, the current one the ER is too yellow for my taste. The said the dark dial, ER, and the Oysterfelx is just such a killer combination. I really wish they made Osyterflex an alternative for all their watches. I would much rather have that than be putting my EXP2 on a nato over the summer.

But a gold Daytona with Oysterflex would be so spectacular! You can deal with the gooey mess in a few decades...it would have been worth it 🤣

It is very comfortable - however, many of my friends/contacts have noted that it's a pain to size. You have to get the correct sizes (both sides) from the get-go otherwise it can be a nightmare finding the right straps to fit your wrist.

It would crush the new car budget. Hoping for a two tone instead.

Okaaay finnne; I suppose a new car is more important than a Daytona.

I bought my Oyster Perpetual used with a Speidel Twist-O-Flex.  Can the Oysterflex compete with with that versatile bracelet?

Full disclosure, it will be a fun, second car, so not so sure!  :-)

Absolutely not! The Speidel Twist-O-Flex is the grail of all watch bracelets 😉

Oysterflex bracelets for Rolex watches with some sort of new interchangeable strap system would definitely be the dream for many!

This is the only problem with them; for the rest they lay perfect on the wrist and wear beautifully witout wandering.

Major problem is indeed sizing: Rolex has used at least two different Oysterflex sizing charts and made incremental changes to the sizes available through time. And if your R dealer has not sold a lot of them, they also make mistakes finding the right size for you.

In the end I called the official UK service center, and they told me the correct letter size I needed. And their sizing was totally different from what the dealer had  advised!
