There are also kids today that never used a rotary phone. played a vinyl record, never heard of the Beatles, never manuallly changed the channel on a TV, or heard of defrosting the freezer.
When I talk to my nieces and nephews they are always amazed " what there was no colour TV and there were 3 channels !" "you only had one car" "how did you wash the dishes - by hand" "what's a launderette?"

How about even a house phone at this point…it’s wild
I blame this on the lack of calculator watches that have scientific and graphing functions. And maybe scripting based on BASIC or lua. If the kids can't play drug war in math class with their watches, why wear them?
I’ve never had to use a hand crank to start my car. But that’s ok. I don’t feel like I really missed out on much 😂
I imagine it is just as frustrating and eventually (hopefully) rewarding as kick-starting a motorcycle or pull-starting a mower. I'm oddly on the side of involvement over convenience. I miss turning a car ignition key.
I don't get these kids without watches though. How do they know to get home in time to watch their favorite shows?
I'm pretty much done with collecting now, but I've certainly got a good variety of affordable watches. As an occasional YouTuber, I'm a comedian not an influencer. Skmei is the new Casio!

I remember when there was no quartz.

It simply is about exposure and experience. Like vinyl records and stick shift cars. Dated, but emotive, with passion…

Kids? There are plenty of adults that don't even know mechanical watches still exist.
