A SOTC of No Real Importance

I have never done a SOTC post before, so I will do one now. In order of no importance:

Seiko SBBN035

Omega Seamaster 300M 2531.80.00

Grand Seiko SBGX341

Casio G Shock DW6900

Casio G Shock DW5600

Sinn 556A

Seiko SZSB006

Seiko SNA411

Seiko SRPE57

Seiko SARB017

I really have no rhyme or reason to my collection. I have just purchased watches that I like. As you can see it does lean pretty Seiko heavy, but that is probably due to the fact I started collecting when I lived in Japan. All watches with the exception of the Sinn 556A, Seiko SRPE57 and Seiko SARB017 where purchased in Japan (those 3 were ordered online from the US).

My most worn watches are by the far the Sinn 556A and Seiko SBBN035. I do not plan on getting rid of any of them, but the 3 that will absolutely stay in the collection are the Seiko SARB017, Sinn 556A and the Grand Seiko SBGX341. The SARB017 is the first mechanical watch I bought and kicked this whole crazy collecting journey off. Plus it might be the best Seiko ever made. The Sinn 556A was a total impulse buy, but it is my most worn watch, and might be the most versatile watch available. And finally, the Grand Seiko SBGX341 was my first "luxury" watch, and I had the privilege of purchasing it at the Wako Department Store in Ginza, Tokyo. The iconic building with the Seiko clock on top.

That's it. That is my collection.

Edit* Reading responses made me think of something. What am I missing? What should I be looking for next to round it out. Right now there is not another watch I am pining for. The only thing on the agenda is to get the Omega serviced.

Great collection. I think many of us are Seiko and Casio heavy, without the excuse of living in Japan 😂. I’m planning on going to Japan next Spring and hope to see the Seiko HQ in person, and maybe pick up a watch or 3.

Very nice! My eye went straight for the tuna, not surprising as I've always also maintained a Seiko heavy collection. Early indoctrination was the ticket in my case.

That's a nice box of goodies!! That Tic-Tac seems to keep popping up on me lately, I better just buy the damm thing!!

It is a good looking watch. The best part is the distortion from the domed crystal. I didn't realize Tic Tac was a Japanese watch store, until living there for over 3 years. 😂 Once I put two and two together I went and scooped one up.

Check out Bic Camera if you go. They have a huge selection of Seiko watches.

The Tuna is the bees knees. Maybe one day I can upgrade to a big boy 1000m one.

Is that in Ginza or another district?

Bic Camera is all over the place in Japan.

Thank you, didn’t realize it was a chain. I guess there’ll be more opportunities for me to “accidentally” come across it and look at some JDM stuff.

Nice collection! Are you sure that’s not a SMP 2531.80?

·

Great SOTC post- thanks for sharing! I’m going to Tokyo in two weeks- any suggestion of where to get deals on Seikos? I saw your comment about Bic camera and I’ve also heard about Nakano Broadway- any other suggestions?

Yup, that was a typo on my part.

You gotta check out Mizutani Camera in Ueno. That is where i picked up my SBBN035. It is a lot of older watches, but you can get lucky and find a new old stock. Hands down my favorite watch store in Tokyo.
