A swatch blancpain stystem 51 phantoms??

Swatch had some plastic dive watches, the Swatch Scuba Libre, that were rated up to 200m about a decade ago so it's definitely a possibility. I think it would be some good publicity for a somewhat underrated watch and brand. Although having their best Fifty Phantom's models not be limited edition would be even better publicity...

Not sure why, but this makes me a little sad. I almost feel it's devaluing the Swatch brand, they have great history and make some really interesting watches - I know the moonswatch was fun and bought lots of publicity and sales but Blancpain now??????

I think a Swatch x Blancpain 50 Fathoms would be super cool. I would probably buy one same as I did a moonswatch. Once the initial hype dies down and I can go into my local swatch store and pick one up I'll pick one that I like, buy it, and wear it every now and then when I want a bit of extra color on me.

It does not change the existing Blancpains or Swatches in any way, it's just another new thing. I don't think less of the Omega brand because I have a plastic one in my watch box. I wasn't just about to drop $20k on a Blancpain but changed my mind to buy a plastic Swatch version...

I don't understand the bad side of this idea. I don't understand what's wrong with people waiting in line to buy a Swatch. I think that the Swatch group is putting a spotlight on some great brands and putting them in the consumers' minds for the first time in some instances. The hate of these things reeks of Gate-Keeping Neckbeards. If you don't like it just don't buy it. Don't go yucking other people's yums.

I have a hard time seeing any possible collab being as big/hyped as the MoonSwatch. It was the first of its kind, and had great timing, great branding, great story, and a popular collaborator (after Rolex, Omega is probably the most well known luxury watch brand in the mainstream?). It’s going to be tough to match with any subsequent line … meaning hopefully if these are good, these will actually be available to purchase without waiting in line!

I think the swatch collaborations are pretty cool. It makes new watch fans. Which is good for everyone.

I was keen to get a Moonswatch until the reviews on quality and issues started coming out and I saw the horrific price gouging as people got them just to flip them. And having a Speedy from my wife as a wedding day gift it just never got any further interest from me. But, if they can solve the quality issues and do something fun for a watch brand I know I will never afford like Blancpain then that might get my interest!

The day the moonswatch came out I went to the nyc store to try and get one or two and of course as the story goes, they sold out.

So instead I went to Watches of Switzerland that day and bought this:
