SOTC2024

I have a total of 26 watches as of April 2024! 😱 How the heck did that happen?! 😂 I know I’m no record breaker for “fastest collector” but it still feels like I just started.

Anywho..here are my watches!

First up! My Casios. The Mudmaster and the Casioak gets the most attention. I wear these watches the most because I have a toddler. These things are toddler proof 😂

Image

Next are my Pilots. You can’t really tell but the Oris’ dial is burgundy. The Oris was the first Swiss watch I bought. Longines gets the least wrist time because it’s huge! The crown is also hard to pull out.

Image

And now my Dress watches. The Seiko Presage “side car”, (idk the ref. off the top of my head and I’m lazy to look it up), was a wedding gift from my wife. I walked down the aisle wearing that watch. I bought the Nomos for my wife as an anniversary gift. It lives in my watch box because it fits my wrist 😂😂😂😂. And then the Caravelle is my grandfathers watch from the 70s. I wear it and it still keeps time!

And next my field watches. I’m a military brat so this genre is very special to me. One watch I want to highlight is the Seiko 5 Snk381k1. My grandfather faught in the Vietnam war. Hearing his war stories growing up made me look at him as a hero! My grandpa was a badass. He wasn’t apart of Mac-V-sog, but when I look at this watch…I think of him. My dad and I are looking for pictures of what he actually wore in the conflict. My dad says he might have worn a Hamilton.

Image

And lastly. My divers. My first watch that I bought myself is the Seiko Samurai to the right. I love dive watches because it reminds me of my childhood. I grew up in and around the ocean. I mean…I am from Hawaii 😂 but fishing and diving was my life growing up. I want more bronze divers.

If you made it this far..you’re a rockstar lol. Thanks for taking the time to read about and look at my collection.

Mahalo,

Jai

What makes this post is the stories you shared to explain. Loved the breakdown. I’m much further behind on my collecting and wonder - if you had to do it all over again, would you buy volume/variety or focus on a few watches more in the 5k range? It’s so easy to get caught on the treadmill of lower cost watches when you can get them as gifts or you dip into the watch fund prematurely so I’m not sure if I should continue my trajectory or wrestle my compulsions down and hold tight.

·

Cool watches combined with good stories and memories. Thanks for sharing. How long did it take you to put together your Collection?

·

You got it bad brother:) you have some really nice pieces too so great taste :)

·

Beautiful collection - you have good horological taste!

The top pick is my core collection (not including vintage or Chinese factory pieces)

The bottom pick is the box that has all the watches that I’m going to let go/sale! (Probably on eBay)… I haven’t sold a piece since I started collecting 7 years ago (watching YouTube videos), but something’s got to give!!

Thanks! But if I would start over again…I think I would save more and buy higher end pieces. With that being said, I don’t regret my collection lol. Most of my watches has stories and were bought on a special occasion. Like my Panerai, I bought to celebrate fatherhood. My baby made a year last year and it was my first Father’s Day. And my Christopher Ward was bought to compemorate the day he was born. I can go on and on. Haha I also think wrestling your compulsion are a good thing! Take your time and have no regrets 🤙🏽🤙🏽🤙🏽🤙🏽

Great advice - appreciate you sharing, and makes total sense. How could you have regrets when they represent treasured memories every time you wear them? Also, there are some quality pieces in there for sure.

Exactly! The Fireman Glory (as opposed to the Enterprise, which has the date at 3 o’clock)😁👍

We also share the joys of the SKX007, and the Samurai!

I especially dig your Oris, Longenes, and Farer!!😍
