The Epitome of DeskDiving

In the world of diving and open water swimming, this particular brand may be better suited for the desk. However, I do know of many in the past military & vocational who use this brand as their daily diver.

Simply put, I love the sub. It’s been my grail since I saw my grand dad use it. I’d love to see Rolex come up with a sub with a proper oyster flex. That would be superb. However, I’m sure there are some who really are traditionally inclined. But then again, is a two-tone diver traditional?

What are your thoughts?

It is a horrible desk diver because the clasp gets scratched if you breathe on it, nevermind drag it across a desk all day. Ask me how I know. :-) I absolutely love the watch, but gold as a whole does not make for a good sport watch material.

Also…someone is trying to get a UN badge I see.

Yep I was struck by the Sub Date/Rolex bug when I saw one as a kid. Had to get one and glad I did. I really enjoy it. For mwir has to be on bracelet. It's sooo good. I might consider oyster flex though. Had an Everest rubber strap that I ended up never using. Sold it.

They totally spot me trying to get badges. I had some removed. But I still keep trying. :)

I don't have the UN badge yet. I hear that just commenting will get me closer. I hope that's true.

Fun fact: commenting on comments in your own post gets you closer to the badge too. Good luck on your streak.

Thanks so much for this. Back to this post...I'd love if Rolex were to "adopt" a thing or two. Wouldn't it be cool if they had a quick release for their bracelets and straps so we could swap from Oysterflex to Bracelet? #deskdiver all the way!!!

A blue Oysterflex with a quick release should absolutely be an option. Some junior designer probably pitched that to Rolex five years ago, but they are moving at the speed of Rolex. That sort of option would allow you to preserve the bracelet in pristine condition, adding to its ultimate value.

Basically, we want options like #tudor and #ulyssenardin wink wink...hope they read this and get the hint.

Forget desk diving - take that bad boy to a depth of 91meters and do some salvage, then you will really see some scratches.

I purchased a 168000 in 1986 that I passed along to my son in law on my daughter's wedding day and you should see the scratches on that one. BTW he wears it almost everyday - except when he goes to the office in Manhattan (on the subway...)

Why don’t you build it yourself?

Totally would do you have any suggestions on a brand? Love your look and looks perfect on you. #divewatch for the win!

You are an awesome dad!!! What a wedding gift...that's a tagline from another brand. #divewatch

Certainly if I had one I wouldn’t be doing anything more than desk diving.

I appreciate, admire and respect the brand’s heritage in actual diving but the brand has been driven and driving in a rather different direction for many years and now feels increasingly distant from that heritage - not so much in the product but in the “pitch”.
