Thinking of focusing my collection as a one brand only

After some time of introspection, I am almost decided to focus my collection in Citizen only. My last Citizen additions makes me happier than other brands. What do you think? do you suggest any model for my collection? the photos show the 3 I currently own.

Who else immediately went to see his #wruw posts? Guilty.👀

Citizen makes some fine watches for sure. I think a majority of us have a brand we’re partial to. I just put one on sale, it’s a great looking watch. https://www.third-watch.com/watchbox/p/gns5bba4ansltoac9g3msuaivhxcie

They also have the new Series 8 GMTs and 365 Eco-Drives.

Well there’s certainly enough variety to go with Citizen and in that price range you could make a killer collection!

·

Citizens are really cool specially the vintage ones

yes. I plan to focus on vintage

·

Love the octagon!

You will be in good company with your "one brand only" decision. @TimexBadger himself decided to only collect Timex. Cheers to you both, gents!

Really nice watches, could you share the reference numbers please?

I'm a fan, especially some of the JDM models. Wish they were easier to find/get.

There are a lot of pluses that come out of one brand collecting. I find you learn about the brand quicker and it's fun to identify with that brand. Citizen just opened a huge flagship store in New York City and now would be a great time, they seem to be entering the luxury market but still make amazing affordable timepieces. I did the same thing with Timex and I am having a lot of fun collecting watches that a lot of watch guys look down at (except the amazing people at Watchcrunch). As far as Citizen goes, it was my only watch for 17 years, my wife bought me a Citizen ecodrive dress watch for my 40th birthday, soon to turn 60, but I wore it as my everyday watch and I literally never took it off for that entire time. Other than swimming, I did everything in that watch. It's still running and I never serviced it or had to replace a battery. Good Luck, I highly recommend one brand collecting, but be warned you may feel the need to build your own Citizen Museum in your house.

Yes! Top 1 in my list

·

Will you stick exclusively to the main citizen brand or explore subsidiaries, namely Bulova, Frederique Constant, Reguno and the like?

·

I have a ‘Casio only’ collection that’s apart from my ‘regular’ collection that is constantly revolving. Casios are so much fun but easy to accumulate so I keep a 5 watch maximum for those. Maybe keep a separate box for ‘Citizen only’ 😆

·

If i could only wear one brand it would be Citizen until Christopher Ward bring out a solar watch

·

Respect if you can focus on only one brand, but what happens if there is a watch that just ticks all the boxes for you from another brand. Would you then just leave it? I can imagine that people that collect for many years and find their one brand. But as said, I can't imagine it.

·

Series 8 is a lovely watch.

·

Citizen is massively underrated

my original Idea is only Citizen but who knows 😉

·

The bullhead octagon is a classic an that series8 look really nice. Citizen make fine watches.

·

If one must take this road of having only a one brand watch collection, Citizen and Seiko are probably the best choices.

They won't ever my my only watches but I love citizen. My top 3 watches of my collection include the series 8 and promaster titanium auto.

I want to pick up the newest series 8 as well as a chronomaster HAQ.

I was looking at the aq4030 but the size was just a bit too big but now I’m desperately trying not to buy a aq4091-56a - I really love the white washi paper dial with a clear disc that make the markers look like they are flying- very accurate solar quartz & titanium— citizen make some really cool watches

I also love Washi paper but I am a little concerned about the aging of the dial. Will the paper dial last unchanged until 2100 like the perpetual calendar?

Yeah that’s fair, I had the same concerns about Ming with their saphire disc on the dial. At least citizen should be around for a while (maybe).
