King Turtle With Out Candy Bar Cyclops

Since I had my Seiko Samurai's Cyclops removed, the sword has fallen upon two others as well. One of which was my Seiko King Turtle and I couldn't be happier!

You can easily read the day/date window without it, in fact far easier to read my opinion. The watch looks so much better without it. It's a great dial and I hated that it was some what obstructed by the magnifier/cyclops.

I'm curious what everyone else's opinion is on them.

TBH, I never understood the need for a cyclops because to me, it blocks visibility from about half the angles.

I also do not prefer them.

I never had and never will own a watch with a cyclops. Kinda silly, tbh.

Looks great without it. Did you do it yourself?

No, my watchmaker did it for me. He also did my King Samurai and Alpinist.

Will being either doing it myself or getting it done on my samurai in a bit here. I agree that it looks better without.

The sensible way to do it. Idk I'm a bit shaky doing watch diy, but I'm also not sure it's worth doing to my Invicta

I honestly had no idea this could even be done.  I've never seen one in real life, so I guess I always assumed it was just molded into the crystal.

Hmmmm....I had used Cyclops/No Cyclops as a way of trimming down the watches that I want. Now you're telling me it's possible to remove them? Oh boy. Here comes trouble... 😉

It looks great, BTW.  I think a huge improvement over the original. Nice work!

Cyclops made sense in vintage watches, which are generally smaller than today's ones. Today, they are more a gimmick than an actual function.

(Nice King Turtle BTW!)

Wait till you hit your mid-40s when you start squinting or holding something at arm’s length to get focus then you’ll understand.

They day-date window seems pretty legible without the cmy lips and agree it looks good without it.

Agreed, what watch do you feel it works on? I personally feel that Seiko started putting them on for perceived value.

It looks way better without the cyclops, great choice on removing it.  I’ve wanted to take off the cyclops on my king Samurai but I’m too scared to try out the YouTube videos using torches to remove it hahaha
