Breitling Superocean III - Thoughts?

I’m after a little bit of feedback on the Breitling Superocean III, and Breitling in general if people can?

I’ve never really had an itch for Breitling but the new Superocean III actually looks stunning to me.

I really need to go to the AD and check these new pieces out.  I'm such a fan of the classic Breitling styling my brain is rejecting it.

Thanks for the feedback @SurferJohn !

Looks absolutely spectacular in my estimation! Beautiful, unique design!

Love this watch. the design based on one of their early divers from 1957 - minus the ‘slow-motion’ 3rd hand. In the flesh, this watch wears really well. I wish they used one of the in-house movements with a higher power reserve but, as with all breitlings, it’s solid as a tank. They did some interesting color ways & varying sizes. Once you try it on, I’m sure you won’t be disappointed.
I personally like the brand & their historical catalog a lot. I love the direction that George’s Kerns has been taking the company. For the build quality, they offer lots of value.

Here’s an article on their divers

Thanks for the comments @HotWatchChick69 and @msugarman !

Yep, they are beautiful!  The new releases from Breitling over the past 4 years are not getting the attention they deserve, but new management has hit the nail on the head each time.

I would be all in except the COSC ETA movement has a stock power reserve. I think the price is a bit high for that movement, though it does allow it to be a bit thinner than the Kenissi alternative.

·

Good to know about the movement @cornfedksboy !

Agreed but you can’t argue with the ease of repair & reliability of the ETA movements.

Absolutely!  I have watches with these same movements and they are great.  Take it off the wrist for one day and you are resetting it. Not a huge issue, but I would be more comfortable with it at $3750 than the $4850 Breitling is charging.

When I first saw this watch I was not so impressed. However, I find that it is the kind of design that grows slowly on you. Today, seeing a lot of colorways being offered, I kinda warmed up to them.

This looks so good!

I absolutely love this watch, in fact massive fan of the superocean range in general. (especially as this was my 1st luxury watch being superocean II and the only watch i have regretted selling)   For me Breitling are really knocking it out of the park at this time,

I like the redesign except for one thing, the minute hand. It looks like a flyswatter. I can't unsee it. If it had a more traditional styling for that design element, I think I'd be all in.

·

I say.... go to the AD and try it on wrist. I thought it looked good in pics. In person and on wrist, not so much!

I've heard many, many other says the opposite...including quite a fee youtubers who bashed it until they saw it in person.

Still good advice.

When this Superocean was released, I saw mostly two types of comments - "I love it" or "the design of the hands sucks." I'm in the camp that says "I'd love it if not for the hands, they suck."

·

I love it

It’s a great design, it certainly stands out from the crowd, that’s why I like it👍🏻
