Tudor or Omega?

From the title you're probably a little confused lol. I mean they're both great but on different levels soooo...I find myself in a conundrum! I'm going to purchase a watch. But I can't decide what to do. I have enough money to either buy a new Tudor or a used Omega. I'm Leary about buying used luxury watches. But I love Omega and I doubt I'll ever have enough cash to buy a new one. I also love Tudor. So what would you all do? The new Tudor or try to find a worthy used Omega (my Grail)? What would you pick? I'll go with the winner!

I would suggest getting the one you love, which sounds like the Omega. As long as you can see it in person and talk to the dealer and do your research before hand I am sure it will be the better choice if you don't think you will be in the same financial situation again

·

I would go for the one you want most… otherwise you’ll get the Tudor and still be thinking about the Omega which will ruin the Tudor for you even though it’s a great watch.

·

I was exactly in your position only a couple of weeks ago but already having seen a used Omega at a price I couldn't turn down. I did hesitate for lots of reasons but went for the Omega and I'm so happy I took the plunge. Definitely try both on and go with the one that gives you 'the feeling'.

Or keep saving and get the new Omega you want...

·

I'd go for the Omega myself. That's me though, between a SMP300 and the BB. I would meet-up with the seller and inspect the Omega before making any commitment/decision.

Here the only problem I have with that. I have 3 kids and a wife so when I try to save up money for any length of time something ALWAYS and I do mean ALWAYS comes up that makes that impossible! So when I have the money to do something like this which is rare.... I HAVE TO DO IT NOW! Otherwise tomorrow it'll be our car broken down or one of the kids did or "dad I got layed off and need rent"! So... Yeah naw... I better do it now lol 🤣!

That's indeed a conundrum!

Jomashop sells new omega with a store warranty. Cheaper than AD and less risky than used if you fell uncomfortable.

·

I love Omega, I've had 2 in the past, I also really like Tudor, but LOVE comes higher than LIKE.

I love MY WIFE and I LIKE my work colleagues 😂

Have you seen the NEW Omega collection the

Seamaster DIVER 300MCO‑AXIAL MASTER CHRONOMETER 42 MM at £5800 is lovely ❤.

if I had the money I'd be saving/buying the Planet Ocean, it's a beauty.

Same issue as my! 🙈i continuously visit both ADs. Don’t have an quick answer for you, but the new 75th anniversary seamaster professional 300m is just awesome. I’m a sucker for blue dials but the omega blue tone never did it for me. The new blue on the other hand i realy love! 🙌🙌

·

Tudor for me and I would prefer buying new but Omega are also very fine plus you describe Omega as your grail?

I hear you, but having been in this situation before, I’d worry that you’ll have to sell the watch if something comes up. And that will be even more painful than having to use your watch fund on a life expense.

So I’d consider if you really can afford either of these. “Afford” means more than just “do I have the cash at this moment.” It also means “does this expenditure fit my lifestyle and position right now.” It sounds to me like you may not be able to afford it right now.

·

In this scenario, Omega. Come on. You know if you buy the Tudor, the first person to say, "Poor man's Rolex, eh?" will cruel it for you and you'll think, "I could have had a bloody Omega instead..."

Personally, I own a Seamaster AND a Ranger... and I love them both. But the Seamaster came first.

·

I purchased my SMP300 pre-owned from Chrono24 and it was the best watch decision I’ve ever made. Fear not, just do your homework.

·

Go to an AD, try on both and then make a decision. Don’t rely on internet randos for a decision like this.

·

Omega, all the live long day.....

·

Well good news is you can’t go wrong with either. I’ve had multiple of both brands. I’ve had better luck with resale value on the Tudor over the Omega ( meaning the money I’ve lost cause I’ve lost on both brands it’s just how much you can stand loosing). They both have their good traits. Me personally the Omegas are great but I can only wear them on a NATO or Rubber strap, the bracelets on the Omegas are way to busy for me. If I was going to buy another Tudor i would buy the Pelagos it’s very versatile to me. Have fun with it brother watches are made to enjoy don’t be the guy that’s scared to wear it.

·

I own both the watches in your image. The omega is 23 years older than the BBB & it’s honestly twice the watch in quality & comfort. With the advent of the new Seamaster secondhand prices of a standard 300 will be slightly below average. My advise, don’t settle for second best & make sure you buy via a reputable store.

·

I would get the watch you want the most! It sounds like you’re close to getting your grail watch, so I’d try to keep saving and not compromise for something else :)

·

I own an Aqua Terra 38mm and x2 Tudor's (smiley BB36 and BB54).

Honestly, as much as I ardor my Tudor pieces, Omega is on another level completely. If I had to pick one watch, I wouldn't even have to think about which one. Finishing, feel good factor and quality, all favours the Omega. You can also get some used/as-new Omega watches, for less than the price of a new Tudor piece, if you are lucky.

Good luck and go with the watch that ultimately you prefer!

Man I feel this. I was just saving up for my first 1-2K watch, and had enough saved … and the family van broke down. Looks like I’ll have to wait a bit longer, heh.

·

Omega, I can only dream. But OMEGA!

·

I'd say Omega. Just because in of the fantastic movement

·

You only live once. Get the second hand Omega then keep an eye out for a second hand Tudor, sounds like you deserve both 👌

·

+1 on getting your dream grail watch! It’s hard having cash in the wallet and deciding you “need, absolutely need” a new watch, we’ve all been there. But if you’re hesitant on purchasing a used Omega, you’ve already proven to yourself that you can save up funds so just save a bit more and get a new Omega from an AD. That way you have the five year warranty, piece of mind, and best of all, the watch you really want!

After the poll results and some time to think and reading everyone's opinions..... That's exactly what I'm doing. In 60 days I'll have enough and I've got the go ahead from my wife and kids so I'm doing it!!! It took me 50 years I can wait 60 more days!! Thanks for your help!

·

Ok are you ready for this. This is the answer. Here it is..... Hold on to your seat!!!! Get whatever one you want lol

For real though both are great but me personally I need to have a date on a watch and quality wise Omega seems a step above. Also if you're a serial flipper or trader like me a watch having the ability to hold its value is pretty important which Omega is a little bit better if you buy it used at the right price you normally won't lose anything or very little.
