Mido GMT

Hi I'm new to collecting, this is my Mido Ocean Star GMT I bought it for about 970 USD. This is an excellent watch in my opinion and I don't know why Mido isn't quite as popular as it should be.

Mido was always a niche Swiss watch, even in its heyday (mid 1940's to 1960's).  Once it was sold and folded into Swatch I think that it lost its identity, even more than other brands. They were known for great waterproofing and movements.

It's up to you to prosthelytize the merits of the brand.  You are the expert.

(I am writing this wearing a mid-60's Ocean Star.)

Congrats.

Great looking GMT.

Mido makes a great watch and, as a member of the Swatch group, warranty work and servicing is easy to come by.

They might be more popular than you think.

Great looking watch! I agree Mido seems to fly under the radar - I suspect mostly because they are widely available here in the US (probably because Swatch group). I think you have a great start to your collection! Thanks for sharing and welcome to the Crunch!

Love it! The Ocean Star GMT is on my short list.

Mido provides a lot of watch for a reasonable amount of money.

They don't have a huge presence in the USA, but they're big in Mexico and South America.

I bought this watch as well and love it. This on my 6 1/4" wrist is pushing boundaries for me but on a NATO I get a better fit than on the bracelet. The bracelet is phenomenal with the ratcheting adjustment and easy links. It's a chunky boy but however they regulate the movements, it runs like a top and I maybe lose 30 seconds a month, if that. Great price and enjoy!
