Thoughts on the DW-H5600 ?

I was pretty excited that this did heart rate and a few other functions, while still being a normal looking 5600 case. But then I saw some of the reviews, and have hesitated on the purchase since. I know @MWC2020 and others reviewed it, But I wanted to get the WC family take on it. So what say you? Is it a Buy or a Pass? Why?

I have fitbit. For any situation other than fitness I have many other options. Just not my bag. Def a cool watch tho.

I'd just get a Garmin for that sort of money. That price gets you an Instinct 2 and change... which is far more functional and plenty tough.

Yeah, this is where I have the hang up, too many (probably better) options out there

Thanks!

That's what I'm leaning towards, I have had an eye on the Instinct 2 that @Puffin mentioned for a while too.

This is what most of the reviews that gave me pause said too. I have had the Instinct on my radar for a while, just never actually pulled the trigger.

Thanks!

I got the instinct 2s solar. It is good. Probably a similar size to the square G Shock and could totally pass as one as far as looks go. The solar charging is weak but the non solar didn't have Garmin pay which is a big deal for me.

Once upon a time, in ancient Rome, there was a soldier named Maximus, known for his bravery and quick thinking. Maximus had a little secret that he kept hidden under his armor—a modern wristwatch he had acquired from a mysterious merchant.

·

Now, wearing a watch in ancient Rome might seem like an odd thing, but Maximus cherished his timepiece. He found great joy in knowing the exact time, even though the concept of minutes and seconds hadn't been invented yet. It made him feel like a time-traveling soldier.

·

One sunny morning, Maximus was assigned to guard duty at the entrance of the city. As he stood tall, wearing his shiny armor and glancing at his wristwatch, the other soldiers couldn't help but notice his peculiar behavior.

·

One of his comrades, Julius, walked up to him, eyeing the watch with curiosity. "Maximus, what is that contraption on your wrist? It looks like a tiny sun dial!"

·

Maximus chuckled and replied, "Oh, Julius, this is my secret weapon! It's called a watch, and it tells me the precise time. It's like having a pocket sundial!"

·

The soldiers gathered around, intrigued by this new marvel. They bombarded Maximus with questions, asking how it worked and why he had such a thing. Maximus, relishing the attention, began explaining the intricacies of his wristwatch as if he were a seasoned salesman.

·

Just as Maximus finished his impromptu watch tutorial, a senator approached, flanked by a group of dignitaries. The soldiers, startled by the sudden appearance of such important figures, quickly straightened their posture, except for Maximus, who was too busy showing off his watch.

·

Word of Maximus's G-Shock spread like wildfire throughout the legion, reaching the ears of their commanding officer. Intrigued by the commotion, the officer approached Maximus, his eyes narrowing at the watch. "Maximus, what sorcery is this? A watch that withstands water and shocks? Show me."

·

With a mixture of excitement and trepidation, Maximus showcased the G-Shock's features to the officer. The watch's beeps and alarms echoed through the air as the officer examined it closely, perplexed by its modern-day technology.

·

After a moment of contemplation, the officer shook his head in disbelief. "Maximus, while your G-Shock may be an impressive piece of craftsmanship, I'm afraid it's still beyond our understanding. As a soldier, your duty is to protect Rome, not to flaunt peculiar gadgets. Keep your time-traveling devices confined to your off-duty hours."

·

Maximus, crestfallen but respectful, complied with the officer's request. From that day on, he wore his G-Shock discreetly under his armor, only allowing himself to marvel at its features during his personal time.

·

Although he couldn't share the wonders of the G-Shock with his comrades, Maximus found solace in knowing he possessed a timepiece that defied the boundaries of his era. And as he stood guard at the city's entrance, he would occasionally steal a glance at his hidden wristwatch, secretly reveling in the knowledge that, in his own small way, he was a soldier from both the ancient world and the future.

For me there are two reasons to pass it. If I wanted a fitness tracker I would choose a garmin. I love casio but it was not dealt with in time and it is ten years behind. And a peg for charging, really?? And what is this about solar assisted charging? In the end, I think the only thing the square fan needed was the 5610 U with a MIP panel.

I agree, I'm probably gonna look in that direction with a Garmin in the future.

I would love it if they did the 5610 with MIP. That would be an awesome watch.

Ditched my fitness tracker watches...done with traveling with a charger. I need cables for my laptop, phones, iPad, headphones, and whatever else I might need. Too many times I've been somewhere with my fitness charger and return with a dead watch. 100% over it

·

Despite the fact that this type of heart rate monitors is not very accurate (I had two of wrist based monitors before and ditched them in desperation) I love Gshocks and still will be getting it😜. For its intended purpose chest straps are just much, much more accurate and consistent: I do lots of cycling and really need to monitor my heart rate. Said that, I did not get mechanical watches because they are accurate, but because I love them. Just like this square G-Shock.
