Bored to death!

i've been sick watching and hearing about nft in the last one or two year. not that i hate art, but i hate the market manipulation, celebrity and influencer shameless behaviour ripping other people money. however this year it looks like nft and crypto moment are over, thx God.

Image

lately timex was released many cool watch the chronogragph, timex standard, etc so i think it is cool to check all the cool variant on their ig account. and then this cancerous jpeg crawling in their dial 😭😭exclusively for 2 eth for customized waterburry. i guess im living at dystopian world, and im glad im not a member of this ape comunity, its better to buy another "ordinary swiss brand" for 2 eth, so what do you guys think? do you own any ape nft?

I never really understood what NFT’s are and was never a fan of this particular art and the subject it depicts… so I’m as well am glad that it’s kinda over.. I think ….

·

I second that @Ichibunz!! Seems like a new generational thing about how you separate a fool and his money.

Not that i did not appreciate the form of art as watch in my opiniom also the form of art, but the intention behind it is kind of sinister i think.

if I’m understanding it correctly or most likely i’m not…the intent is to make money not art I think hence most “real“ artist don’t like the idea… my daughter is an artist and my cousin-in-law is in finance/business…hell I don’t even really know what she does but she makes really good money… and she kept persuading my daughter to get into NFT’s, and my daughter dislikes the idea…

Yes, i think thats different. Between monalisa and a automated generate monkey pict (and other animal) 🥲🥲. Why would timex materialized it onto a real watch now beyond my brain. I prefer ordinary waterburry than this

I have actually created a few nft’s - this launch is super tone def - I mean i was fine through this all - but a lot of people lost a ton of money in this space by straight up fraud and exchange collapse. timex maybe should have waited a few months from when one of the main crypto exchanges lost like billions of dollars.

I think nft is fine and fun it it marketed correctly. You mean the ftx? That is sad, a lot of people lost the money

Like FTX and the BlockFi, and Luna stuff. I liked making nfts it was fun - but it’s just weird timing - also are they really 2 eth for the watch? that’s super expensive

·

A long time ago I was asked to evaluate a possible partnership with a company that started an online business. Two weeks later I came back with a report stating that not only I didn't believe that this partnership will ever work and that they were only looking for investors but I also could not understand how they intend to make any money. I was laughed out of the room because it was not possible that (insert famous name of internet pioneer brands) were all wrong and I'm the only one who was right.

Less than a month later the first Internet bubble burst in 2000 and that company went tits up.

Since then I kept to the idea that if I can't understand a business after 5 minutes it means that there is no business to start with. That's why I never expressed any interest in crypto or NFT or listened to anyone who didn't know who Galbraith was.

unfortunately yes, the basic quartz waterburry is just 100$, and the most expensive which had automatic movement is 279$ tops. yes it is customizable but 2 eth is crazy

Most of the people would not understand these pictures anyway.

If you do understand, you should do a bit of research of both sides.

"Worth" of the money spent is different for each of us, so I dont care what You spend.

But making statement about yourself by wearing these, well ... (actually who cares ...) but you should know there are some clear indications about racist background for some apes and exceptional trolling  ..but if you like trolling may be wearing these can be like double trolling .. :D

Its worth nothing to me but for some collectors it might as a part of human evolution, or crazy story which moved (at its end) even to watches :D

Ah, NFTs, crypto! The new junk bond. The new Dot Com boom (anybody remember Northern Lights...thought not). The greatest thing since sliced bread! 🤣🤣🤣

I don't want to dissapoint you, but NFTs are only starting and probably going to grow big but not as little arts worth a penny selling for millions but as super easy and fast and safe way of buying and selling stuff. For example you want to buy a PP for 50k, but you don't have an AD around, but if you don't buy it now, it will be gone. So you buy an NFT of that exact watch that indicates that you own that and PP is just carrying that untill you claim that. You travel to the nearest AD when it is comfortable for you and you inform PP that you want to claim your watch and destroy that NFT. You can resell that watch as NFT as well to anyone and it proves absolute originality of the watch, because that NFT was released by PP themselves. Is NFT that bad now?

From what you mention its not that bad, and i got nothing against nft just some bad part of it. Is the bvlgari octo finishimo that got a qr code do the same method as you mentione?

Crypto makes me miss the Gold Standard back when things were simpler and value was based on something I could physically touch ... sigh ... yes I'm old.

Having said that I did buy a whopping $100 of Dogecoin I'm currently up $58.

Bvlgary sellswatch with an NFT in package. Kind of proof against the fakes. Slightly different method and slightly different purpose, but just another way to use NFTs with watches.

I think NFT's combine the absolute worst of 2 bad ideas:

  •  Crypto does not generate income / free cash flows.  As such, their fundamental financial asset value is ZERO
\text{NPV} = \frac{R_{t}}{(1+i)^{t}}
  • Art does not generate income / free cash flows.  As such...  Beyond that, art is nothing more than harmful, negative sum social signaling:

I'm actually really glad that the entire crytocurrency thing is going down the drain.  It's just gambling.  And gambling is awesome.  But, for low IQ individuals, it has the allure of "investment" and it's good to have the system collapse so as to disabuse those folks of the allure!

By the way, gambling on cryptocurrency is awesome!  I bought $100 worth of Bitcoin back in 2015 in order to LEGALLY download English Premier League and Champions League matches from a fly-by-night Eastern European website that, I'm positive, legally licensed all the rights from the appropriate authorities to make matches available for download.  The site shut down like 1 week after I bought the Bitcoin, so the BC sat in my wallet for years.  Sold it this year for $8,000!!!  I love gambling!!!

The most important reason I can't wait for the entire house of cards to fall is that I used to work for Michael Saylor.  He's raised $billions in debt to buy up BC.  His company is up to its gills in debt to take out a huge position on BC.  And recently DC is hitting him with $100M claim in back-taxes.  The guy is one of the worst human beings I've ever known in my life, so can't wait for him to go bankrupt and, hopefully, to jail!

We'll see!  Gonna be fun to be sitting here in the Peanut Gallery!

As a student of Buffett, Munger and Bogle.  I knew crypto was crap and it was just a matter of time.  As a fan of Timex, WTF.  I don't understand what NFT's are nor do I care to know.

·

I liked Kevin O'Leary's idea of including NFTs in watches as a means of unique identification otherwise they seem like they are only good for the person who generates one like being at the top of a pyramid scheme.

NFT in its purest form is still a collection of 0s and 1s. It's a digital "asset", hence, can also be hacked (as supposedly what happened with FTX), or taken away by the more sinister CBDC. Crypto currencies are dropping like flies because of market manipulation by big investors who are part of ensuring the CBDC in all economies is rolled out. CBDC = Social Credit System ala China. All that to say, don't buy into the digital "matrix".
