I was being bombarded with Instagram ads by 'Filippo Loreti', I quite enjoyed the design of their watches and was interested in starting a collection. I began to research what makes a watch a good watch. I never bought a Filippo Loreti.
Q: What was the first watch you ever owned?
When I was around 10 years old, I remember my grandmother gifting me a plastic ice watch that looked like a submariner. At the time I thought it was a million bucks. Wish I still had it but unfortunately it has been lost with the time.
Q: Do you have a watch with a particularly interesting story behind it?
The night the England national football team won the semi-finals of the European championships, I went out to celebrate with my friends. After many pints, shots and lack of sleep, I woke up without my Tissot day date, the watch that I wore the evening before. A week later a friend put me in touch with someone who found a watch that night on a random street in my town. Somehow the watch managed to find its way back to me. It will forever be in my collection now, my lucky charm.
Q: What is one piece of advice you have for someone just getting into watches?
The secret to an amazing watch collection is having an even better strap collection.
Q: What brands have been getting your attention lately?
It's a new brand every week. I am a sucker for a bit of history and heritage.
Q: What is your grail watch and why?
Realistic grail, JLC Polaris.
Unrealistic, many Lange models.
