Which white watch ?

I am experiencing a bit of confusion trying to turn my champagne taste into beer taste in regard to watches .

I am seriously thinking about two or three watches to complete my watchbox and I would ideally like to get a silver/white or opaline centre seconds or small seconds watch with no day or day complication ,

( E2 & VC are the exception , and not a copy of either ) .

A cushion style or beautiful sculpted case not slabsided and a balanced set of beautiful hands and nice preportioned crown , dont care if the indices or Arabic numerals are applied or printed on as long as they aren’t Zenith diving boards, VC 1921 dial is perfect also , also Rolex 1908 dial,

If I had the money I would get a VC Overseas ( will put up with their size, if I was able to acquire one of these lovelies) , and not a case size smaller than 37mm or larger than 40mm would be ideal for my puny 6” wrists .

I am completely smitten by the LF but don’t have a spare $50K floating about in my bank account. Gareth from @gasworks might have a solution?

Does anyone make a lovely white faced centre seconds watch with ALS or Breguet hands in a beautiful case with a good Soprod , ETA , Selita or heaven forbid a good quartz movement and at least 5 atm of water resistance!

Within $1K to say $6K 🤞🤞🤞

The first that comes to mind is the santos. I’m a little obsessed but for good reason. Talking white simple dials with sparkling hands, I guess that’s one of the best. Either M or L with date

·

You'd be going from Champagne to tap water with me.. 🤣

·

Saw these at the World Time UK event...

Prestex Duckworth..

Farer...

Certainly nothing currently on or off my bench that would tick many boxes above.

·

I love all of the watches you've mentioned, the VC Overseas is one I'd really love to have.

I know this is a bit predictable, some would say boring but I really think you'd be hard pushed to get a more beautiful & elegant watch than the OP 126000 silver dial.

Sorry you did say "white dial" 😀 The clue was in the question I didn't read properly. D'oh!

I love your work mate :)

At this price range, go for the most classic watch: the Tank, the Solar Beat version would be a nice addition.

If you want something besides mainstream look for a Nomos or Junghans. The Bauhaus design is a very pleasing dress watch design. They both a good variety of opaline dialed watches.

·

I have to admit that I absolutely love the Nomos Zurich Ref 801. It's as pure & clean a white dial you could imagine. A snip at £3,460 with an exhibition caseback.

·

Not so much of Breguet numerals but Bravur showed this little beauty at Stockholm-Time. Very crisp, nice tonneau case and splendid readability. Photo by @Urkraft

I’ll not get tired of mentioning my now achieved grail

The LF for sure. It’s gorgeous

·

Hah, champagne taste, but beer budget - that's classic. But, Yes, yes, and yes! Those are all beautiful.

Here are some ideas for you that aren't your usual candidates.

https://www.baume-et-mercier.com/en/collections/clifton-men/watch-clifton-10505-date.html

Baume & Mercier, $5k retail and I'm sure you can get it for way cheaper grey market. COSC certified, 5 day power reserve, handsome dial and different strap options. 40mm. I like that little target design in the middle - reminds me of the LF classic origin white, since you brought them up.

I always thought b&m are solid choice. Nice dressy watches with normal, solid movements. A bit expensive retail, but can get them for much cheaper grey.

Here's a random one - Zenith Elite ultra thin. On c24 for less than 5k! 40mm and look at that dial. It's like those seikos/GS with this engraved sunray (?) Style.

Image

Okay, here's a white random one - Hermes arceau. It comes in quartz (36mm women or 40mm men). Not sure if this disqualifies it for you. Top one women's, bottom one mens (they also have a plain dial version).

Good luck! Let us know if you decide on something

Oh, I thought I just copied what you said. Sorry!

No it’s ok I’m laughing because that was great 👍🏼 I’m trying to get a cheap watch ( relatively ) rather than the $20k up wish list watch 🙂 because now I desire a zenith 🙂

·

How about a Junghans? Plenty of white and opaline dials to choose from. https://www.junghans.de/en/collection/?p=1&o=5&n=12&f=434

No, this fits the brief but I reckon it would be a tough find at 6K AUD 🙂 I love this watch too :)

I think you might like a Rotary Canterbury (a.k.a. The Sherlock Watch).

Or the older version which I have.

Haha, whew. My statement was funny, I have to admit, but I thought it was yours.

I'd compare that zenith to the similar pattern Seiko to see which you prefer. I swear I've seen that pattern in white on a Seiko before.

Juat saw this vintage beauty, a Seiko Skyliner. Super cheap.

Have you been able to try on a VC Overseas on your wrist? I was offered a silver dial version in my AD, but I was looking for a black/blue dial version of the same watch. Unfortunately, as I put on the watch on my 6.5in wrist, my search for it kind of ended. The integrated lugs wear pretty big for its size and the fit was off.

Maybe trying it on in person would help remove it from your aspiration list. I did recently got allocated a polar Explorer II and even with 6.5in wrist, it fit really well compared to the VC Overseas’ integrated bracelet.

For your budget range however, I think a Longines Master Collection 190TH Anniversy fits really well.

The Longines looks nice , I haven’t tried on the Overseas but Even the E2 is big on my wrist , I tried it on at Suvanapum Airport in BKK and I love it , I would need an older variant, I will need to save my bikkies up 🙂

A crypto boy! For your watches sake, I hope it reaches the moon.

Alao saw this quite attractive, but maybe too dressy white dial watch with a nice guilloché dial.
