commented on Sinn 556i vs. Tudor BB 36? ·

I have not had those exact models, but I recently had a Sinn 105 GMT and a BB41.

Both are exceptional and would serve you equally well, but they are quite different watches. The Sinn will feel more rugged, slightly less refined and let's face it, unknown to most people. Not that Tudor is much more renown amongst muggles, it is however, more popular.

It comes down to what would make you happiest. Is a date complication important to you? The Tudor has no date. Are applied markers and polished steel hands important? Is legibility a primary focus? As for the movements. The Tudor will be finished at a much higher level and will likely be better regulated. Though they are essentially the same movement (ETA 2824 / SW200).

If I had to chose one, I would likely go with the Tudor, but my choice is irrelevant. Go with the one that sings to you. In the end, you are the one that has to be pleased with your purchase, not us. And as far as we go, when you post your NEW WATCH ALERT, we will be thrilled for you, no matter which way you go.

Enjoy the process, hunt and anticipation. Almost as fun as ownership... :)

That is such a good looking watch! Farer has such a good value proposition.

How is the fit and finish up close?

I got a Nick Mankey strap as part of a trade a while ago. This post is really making me want to try it on my Titoni Seascoper. However, I think I'm going to have to watch a few "how to" videos, as I may be too stupid to figure out how to use it without it.

Looks great in the pictures in this tread and looks equally comfy...

I had one of these in the mid-90s. Awesome watch and gives me the nostalgia feels seeing it.

Thanks for sharing!

Santos for me. Especially on that bracelet. It's like butter on the wrist.

As much as I want to like the Sportster, that crown does not look "back of the hand" friendly...

If it fits you OK, go with the one that sings to YOU. Never mind what we think. If it makes you happy, that's all that counts.

Enjoy the hunt!

Hello Everyone,

Long time collector, first time watch cruncher.

Heard about this wonderful community while listening to the Worn & Wound Podcast. A bit about myself. I started seriously getting into watches pre-internet and was on the very first watch forums as they were blossoming in the late 90s.

In this time, I have been the main forum moderator on watchzone.net (no longer a thing), the Ball Watch forum moderator on TZ and WUS. I was the watch reviews editor for InSync Magazine from 1999 to 2005 and I still own / operate my blog on blogger. I was also the founder of the original Ultimate Dive Watch Forum (well before WUS had one), which I gave to Roland Murphy and equationoftime.com. Oh and I have a quaint Instagram profile, should you wish to see some furry wrist shots.

Perhaps you would be interested in reading interview of Clive Cussler, which was published in 2001, coinciding with the re-launch of Doxa as a brand. I am the one that broke the story as to why Dirk Pitt wears an orange faced Doxa in his books.

Well, I look forward to participating and contributing. I think WatchCrunch is just what the doctor ordered to rejuvenate the online watch community. I am quite excited!

Congrats on the lanch!
