My Dad's Tag Heuer #ThrowbackThursday

My Dad introduced me to the watch world since I was 7. He bought me my first Casio, then a G-Shock, and then another G-Shock. I loved them all equally! I remember he once showed me his Montblanc, the one Nicolas Cage was wearing in a newspaper ad. But he never got any automatic watches, I've wondered about that since he passed away last December.

As his son and heir, naturally, his worldly possession are passed to me together with my sister. But she's not a watch-head, so I can have all his watch-pieces. Here, I'd like to share my favorite watch from his collection, his CK1121 Tag Heuer.

Say what you want about Tag Heuer, He loved this watch since he bought it in 2015-ish. I was quite taken aback when he showed me the watch because "It looks like an old mans watch". I thought the white-gold aesthetic looked like something an old Chinese shopkeeper would wear.

About a month or so after his passing, I shorted trough my dad's stuff and find myself admiring his Tag Heuer. The dial is clean, bezel action are good, awesome quartz movement, and I've quite grown to appreciate this 'old man watch'. But the gold bracelet is still a no go for me though, sorry dad, I'm still in my early 20s, hahaha.

Those sentimental pieces will always be some of the most valued in your collection. Wear it and remember him well.

i found out that old man watch (including my dad) always have a two tone colour which is almost always steel and gold 😂

I don't know how old your dad was, but if he was old enough in 60's and 70's, he could just be one of the millions who favored Quartz watches. back in the old days, watches were relied upon to tell you the time. They were very important tools, that needed to be as accurate as possible. When the quartz came out, it was universally considered far better technology for telling time, and still is today.

That might be why it always went Quartz. Because he was smarter then us :)

Killer watch.  Your dad had great taste (I was a teen in the 90s and Tag was The Shit).

I had one of these in the mid-90s. Awesome watch and gives me the nostalgia feels seeing it.

Thanks for sharing!

Beautiful watch and even more beautiful that it was pased on from your father. Wear it in good health!

Been actually looking to getting something similar on the S/EL bracelet! Got any shots of it on the original gold bracelet?

Sorry for the loss of your Dad while you are so young. Treasure that watch. Is a classic and one cannot put a price on sentimental value

Thank you all for your messages and kind words, I'd treasure his collection well. For @unseenhero's question, I don't have the pictures of it with the original bracelet, but I'll send it to you when I'm feeling like changing the strap, haha. But you can look it up online tho, same reference number.
