Is the Daytona MY Perfect 1 Watch Collection?
(I think I need to preface this by saying that I have wanted to Daytona for more than 15 years.)
After all these years of buying watches, I think I have finally purchased a watch that I could legitimately see myself owning for the rest of my life without any others. Maybe it’s just the insane honeymoon phase that I’m in right now. Or is it just simply one of the best designed watches in the industry?
I personally believe it’s the latter. I have yet to find another mass market chronograph that has such perfect proportions. It’s actually a 38mm so it’s a perfect unisex watch. Also, the thickness of 12.2mm allows you to dress the watch up with formal wear and it’ll slide easily under your shirt cuff. It’s elegant and sporty at the same time. The case profile is more rounded & curvaceous, unlike the slab sided profiles of the Submariner and GMT-Master. Plus, being on OysterFlex; you’re able to wear it with more casual clothing, so it truly is a do everything kind of watch. In precious metal guise it’s just stunning to behold- so classy and sophisticated!
I actually understand the years long waiting list for this model and I can’t believe I’m admitting it! And to think..not very far in the past, these were languishing in AD display cases! 🤪 Oh, how times have changed! I do hope to see more of these watches being worn on peoples wrists instead of being flipped as investments though. This watch deserves to be worn, loved, and used by an owner who truly appreciates it for what it is. Not kept away in a safe.

I think there might be one. I have had periods with only one watch and, at the time, that was no problem. But now I don’t want to wear just one. Now I like multiple choises. Your Daytona looks stunning though.
I don't see why not 🤔 I would feel and look out of place with this piece if I could even afford one. But only you know what fits for you. Baller look with gold 👌 I like that 😊

Of all my watches, there are two that are really more 'me' than the rest and neither is my favorite (though they are my 2nd and 3rd favorite).
I think the one that is most me is this. I wanted it for 20 years before finally feeling comfy enough financially to start collecting. When I did, it was the first I got.
But I think if I had to chose just one, it might be this one. It's the one I wear the most.
The kicker is the one that probably means the most to me, due to great experience on how I got it and how many fantastic memories were had right away with it is:
Those three would definitely be my three watch collection though.

Phenomenal line up! I would be very happy with those three in my collection. I really need an Omega. Currently waiting on a 321 Ed White Speedmaster. I love the normal Sapphire Sandwich but really want the 321 movement architecture in my collection. Have a great rest of your weekend! 🥂

Screw down Chrono/gold/no date/Rolex isn’t my bag in virtually every way…. but I can see this watch getting more attention than a supermodel in a swimsuit, and it happens to be a grail for you, an epic combination
For all the watches I bought myself, don’t think I’ve got a single watch that a non collector would even notice. 😂
If considering a 1 watch collection: I prefer lume, I prefer Titanium and lightness, I need a date, and it needs to be happy with active sports and in the ocean… And of course looks awesome - quite a laundry list
Nothing of mine now is perfectly ticking all boxes …
..BUT , my GS Sakura 413 is one I know I’d never sell!. ☺
A great feeling since my workplace is a scratch machine of sharp heavy steel all around me.
I now feel so carefree when I’m wearing it! A great feeling to not worry at all.
And My alpinist Ginza is similar , it’s gotten lots of signs of active life on it now and I’m happy to wear it for all occasions and adventures
These 2 are never sell much loved watches… But I guess I’m happy to keep looking for something, more perfect 😃!

Thank you for the kind words. Yeah, I think this hobby is most definitely an affliction. As much as we might want to admit that we’re cured, I think we’ll all admit that something new and interesting is always going to come along that will perk our interest and pull us into another acquisition. I really am enjoying this watch though. Perhaps it’s because I’ve wanted a Daytona for the better part of two decades! 🙌🏼🙏🏼🥂
If I had to pick only one (and I'm glad that I do not have to do that), then it would be my VC Overseas...
I know, I know...ChronoGuy not picking a chronograph. But there is hardly a watch more perfect than the Overseas in rose gold and that fabulous blue dial...
Plus, with the quick change straps, I have blue alligator and blue rubber to choose from if the gold bracelet needs a rest...
Of course, I don't have the wrists shots yet for the blue gator and blue rubber, because I have been waiting over four months to get my XL straps. Hopefully, they will be with me soon...

DUDE!! That is a beautiful overseas! Please send me the photos when you get your new straps in. I do love how Richmont group brands have those quick change strap options. It’s absolutely brilliant.
