Seiko are probably realized they can make more money selling a Seiko with a spring drive than selling a few to the few who are willing to go up more in price.
You have to remember what started the quartz crises and how cheap we can pick up a quartz watch today.
GS will always have higher standards but I some what on Seiko side on this, is not like you will be able to pick up a mass produced spring drive at Walmart anytime soon, but making them more affordable to ppl might be a way of Seiko to to do more R&D into a better spring drive that will go into a GS
Since live in a desert where i have to much sun I agree all quartz watches should be solar, it's a nice thing to have, I get the feeling I'm like winding up the watch, the 1 watch I have that is. Ot solar I just get the feeling dieing all the time.
Honestly this is a question why sites like watch crunch exsist, let's be honest , a Casio f91w is all we really need, if we are honest.
My best excuse to my gf.
But I like it.
