My Dan Henry Maverick

No disrespect to anyone who owns a moonswatch, in fact I stood in line to get one a couple years ago. Needless to say I sold it due to the lack of quality. If you don’t know about Dan Henry you better learn! 1000x better chronograph for a cheaper price. If your looking to get a long lasting chronograph that you don’t have to worry about this is hard to beat for the price imo.

My choices for a chronograph came to Dan Henry 1964 or the Hemel Air Wing Bicompax with the ST19 movement. After much consideration I opted for the Hemel and it has been a great four years.

Your Maverick is also a solid choice. It took me a lot of research to finally decide on the mechanical over the mecaquartz.🙂

It's the only mechanical chronograph within reach of most of us.

And I suspect that if the MoonSwatch were sold on line many of us would have ultimately been disappointed.

Nailed it!! That Hemel is a great looking piece. Hard to go wrong with that movement.

I live #danhenry watches. The only thing I like about the #moonswatch is the bright colors.

Agreed, they look great but when I got mine in hand it didn’t do it for me.

I’ve been looking at that one for a while!! How do you like it? Looks so cool

It’s fantastic, I regret not pulling the trigger sooner. It’s hard to tell from pictures but the dial is layered. The indices are actually underneath the dial if that makes sense. Super cool feature. It’s one of the few watches that I’ve actually received comments on from non watch enthusiasts.

I like the Maverick (seems a nod to the Porsche Design Maverick wore in the original Top Gun—one of the first PVD sport watches.) But a already have a PVD Brew Metric

I’m diggin that!! Very similar

Your post raises the simple fact that there are a stack of watches out there which blow the Moonswatch out of the water, and don't cost the earth. Even for people who have caught the space bug, the Bulova Lunar Pilot is an absolute no-brainer and, with care, will outlast the buyer, let alone an overpriced plastic Swatch watch cosplaying as something it's not.

Well said sir 👏!!! The lunar pilot has long been my first choice. A 40mm case would make that watch a no brainer!!!

Thank you! It's just reality, you know? As for the sizing of the Lunar Pilot, it's an odd duck. I had the 45mm version and I sold it on - half because of the size, and half because it was the black PVD version and I could just imagine it becoming tatty looking over time.

Meanwhile, despite what I just said, I happily wear a Tuna which is 48mm, but due to the almost lugless design, it gives me no issues. The 43mm Lunar Pilot I feel is a totally different beast again, even though they've barely shaved anything off it. And just shows that every watch is unique, regardless of what we perceive sizes to be like on us.

My own 1962 Racing Chronograph is still very successful at preventing me from doing stupid things, such as buying the plastic wonder MoonSwatch.

Super clean design, I really like that! 👌

·

That's a cool model ! Good choice

·

I opted for the 1964 silver panda

That watch looks like a dead ringer for the porsche design from top gun....

Yep, I do believe that’s what Dan Henry was going for. He may have done it better actually.
