To Moonswatch or Not To Moonswatch…

I wasn’t into it. Seemed like another hype watch. I did like the idea of giving people a chance to have the iconic look for an affordable price. Needless to say, I passed on it. But, when I popped into a Swatch store last month, I took a look at it for the first time. Obviously, not premium materials. Obviously not the caliber 321 movement. But, it has the iconic look. Whenever I’d see someone wearing a Moonswatch, I knew I’d run into a fellow enthusiast. Welp…I caved. First move was to swap the strap out for a rubber strap, and voilà! I’m actually really happy with it. I know people think it’s a cash grab, and that was my first impression too. But, I actually wear it a lot more than I thought I would. I can’t believe I’m saying it, but I’m a fan of the Moonswatch.

Good luck!

I like PD. Great specs on their watches. If you go into the Moonswatch knowing that it’s a plastic Swatch, it’s all good. Obviously not a daily wear, but it is fun to put on.

So far so good

They are fun watches if you accept them for what they are. I enjoy wearing my Jupiter quite a bit, and have had no issues with build quality.

Exactly!

I have the Mission to Earth and I’ve worn it only a few times. In my opinion the least exciting variant. The mission to the moon is the coolest in my opinion. Looks nice. I think I’d wear it more if I had a better color.

I initially wanted the Mission to the Moon, but I decided on Mercury instead. I like the all black look with the strap

·

Enjoy it. Looks better on a rubber strap.

I like my Pluto fine and put it on a leather maroon strap. I never understood the hate from people . . . Of course it’s a cash grab as it’s a company on planet Earth. Nobody is going to mistake this for an Omega and the Omega brand is not tarnished (prob the opposite honestly). It’s a fun homage and collab that never pretended to be anything else.

Oh, I thought yours was the Mission to the Moon. I stand corrected, I think the Mission to Mercury is the coolest, 😂. But really I think the grey dial is better looking than the black. Enjoy.

I’m all for it but not into it, if you know what I mean. If it were at half its current price point then I’d be into it.

Mercury, Moon, and Mars

Looking for Neptune and that will be my final collection of moonwatches only 4

When it was first announced, I was interested. I decided not to queue up all night and just to wait a few weeks for it to be available online and pick it up there.... We all know how that turned out. I dropped into my Swatch store a couple of times in the following 12 months, but they never had any. I am mostly interested in the Earth or Pluto colours. As time went on, I lost interest, and the stories of colour rubbing off and pushers snapping didn't help. Then I got a Bulova Lunar Pilot and a Stunt Planetarium, and I had no more desire for one of these.

And then they released the Thrifty Fathoms. This is more expensive, just for the automatic movement which is disposable anyway. It seemed a pretty bad deal to me, but it made the Moonswatch seem better value by comparison, and my interest flickered again. I likely wont end up getting one at this point - too long a shopping list for watches already, but if I see one in a sale ( 😀 ) in the colours I want, I could cave.

That’s the version I have. It’s certainly a fun watch, and once it’s on a different strap from the original (right now, mine is on a grey perlon), it’s super comfortable. I do worry about fragility, but it’s a regular wear for me.

I'm in the exact same boat! I was there at 6am for the london launch catastrophe, I grew increasingly anti-moonswatch with the crazy pricing and flippers..

However, a year later and I happened upon an empty store which frequently had them in stock. After a couple of check ins, I eventually found the one I wanted. It felt a lot better buying it this way. It's definitely just a toy, but it's a fun one. And it does fit really nicely on the wrist, given the classic proportions and weightlessness of the plastic case and cheap movement.

It makes me laugh when people cite the colours rubbing, when realistically, there's one picture of one guy's wrist from an early version of the Neptune floating around the internet.

And those same people citing the pushers falling off because Adrian from bark & Jack had that happen to his.

I've owned my three for a year and all of them are still perfect. I wear them regularly without a single issue. If the Moonshine Gold is coming to my local store on monday, i'll go pick up another one.

·

Not got one yet, but I will have the mission to the Moon or Mercury.

Im sure I'll end up with one of the Thrifty Fathoms too at some point.

Great idea imho, really dislike clomage's & these are a cheap alternative that's a legitimate homage 👍🏻👍🏻

Not 100%

I kinda like 'em, and might have bought one had the prices not been so silly.
