Once upon a time in 'the north' ... a cowhead skeleton in a heterosexual case and a perfectly cooked chicken.

I love retro, love the 70s and I'm getting a bit of the chrono bug. So when I saw this on JOMW

Image

It piqued my interest, repro/hommage/copy 70s chrono with the venerable manual seagull movement, and then the description

Another great example of lost in translation at its finest. But who doesn't want a heterosexual case containing word nails and a cowhead skeleton.

And it screamed BUND!!! A strap I've not really used before (not got the watch) till now, but this is made for one

Image

And it's a perfect pair, and the watch ain't half bad either. Great colour, nice domed crystal, shiny where its meant to be shiny, even a bit of lume and a total retro shaped case

And of course the display caseback (yes you've all seen it before, but its my first one)

Image

It's a cool fun piece, perfect for a sunny 70s inspired afternoon. And someone else got in on the action too

Image

And then decided he wanted to re-inact his favourite car movie, unfortunately budgetary constraints meant a cabriolet was used and Bert's hat blew off (never to be seen again) during the first take. His moustache lasted the distance though.

Image

And after filming and eating the the best beer can chicken I've ever done (and the only one) it was time to settle down and have a drink

Image

A bit of pure 70s elegance, creme de menthe, straight up 1 cube of ice (don't want to dilute all that minty goodness). Certainly clears the old nasal passages👌.

All in all a nice bit of retro all round, and as for the film Once upon a time in Hollywood set in that era, tried ringing Brad but as usual too busy to pop round. But luckily his cousin only lives 3 doors down so he stepped in to help out

Image

Yep our good friend and neighbour Seth Pitt.

Perfect watch for a day of sunshine, bbq, dodgy drinks and an even dodgier cameo 😎

Where did you get this heterosexual cased beauty from?

Ebay, also on Ali express. But went with ebay a bit cheaper n taxes etc all in the list price

·

Interesting

·

This is of course right up your alley mate!

Actually looks very cool especially on the bund.

And who doesn't like a heterosexual case?

That's straight out of the 70s as well. Now there would be a much longer list of case types!!

·

I love that you love it.

·

Tag yourself, I'm overall heterosexual case

·

Congrats, gotta love a good bullhead! Try one of those uncle seiko bracelets on that to complete that retro look.

I thought that was The ambiguously gay Duo" for a moment.

·

I will have to look for one I think. Though am apprehensive to type the words ‘heterosexual case’ into eBay.

·

I love this one! Was really considering it at a time.

·

I like the Hetero cow bone head!!

Hmm, let’s examine the description words a bit: 🤔

Horn shaped, radiant sun, luminous beads, arched glass.. sparkling semi hidden cylinders … 😮

Dude! You bought the super gay version! - not the hetero! 👯‍♂ Not that there’s anything wrong with that of course! 👍

Thanks for the suggestion, just had a look and very interested, if I've got nothing in my strap box to suit (I've got a few) I'll give one a go. Tbh the bund got a bit sweaty and a proper style of bracelet would be perfect. Cheers

Awesome choice! I too wanted that Brad Pitt vibe. And coincidently, saw this one on JOMW. Detroit Mint “Mach” Bullhead chrono on a brown bund strap. Pulled the trigger right away! It has been an ice-breaker/ conversation-starter ever since.

Whoa, I've been outdone. That's a piece of retro awesomeness, nice one. JOMW is a great resource for ideas (I missed that one though)
