Alberto Santos-Dumont was Brazilian so technically in the southern hemisphere. That could be one explanation for the new Cartier. However I think the real reason is they were just trying to get attention with a clown watch.

Love Noel! I never considered why clockwise is the direction it is but thinking about sun dials, it makes sense.

I definitely think it was an attention getter and it re-enforces they thin of design first then figure how how to make it work.
