For me it's not about flexing (my car isn't hardly worth flexing) the window tint tones down the brightness in just the right way that the watch crystal doesn't glare too much. This comes very helpful especially if the crystal does not have anti reflection coating. Plus the steering wheel provides and awesome arm rest to keep your wrist steady.

Great points. Never thought about it in those terms before.
Thanks for the new knowledge.
You make some good points about the technical aspects of why that makes a good shot. I always just thought that staring at my watch was a good way to spend my time sitting in traffic. But I like your reasoning better 👍 I need to take more steering wheel wristshots and not just keep it to myself 😉
Love your collection BTW
I’m not going to start taking shots inside my Dacia Duster regardless of the technical advantage for photography. 🤣👌
Oh shit, I just realised that my Speedmaster is worth more than my car! 😳😂
It’s a great place for photo ops!! Mentioned this before you can great lighting in the car…hence most of my shots are in the car

Why not? The duster is a cool car.

Agree! Also very good at getting the best angle on the crystal.

Hamilton is beautiful
While I think the wheel is an easy light shot and I get the points you’re making there is a reason it is so disliked that it is its own level of cringe on WCJ. It’s become a flex pose for most. Scroll through instagram, Rolex forum, or worse, a Rolex Reddit thread and just eeeew. I personally never want to be part of that culture, so it it means skipping a well lit opportunity, I’m okay with it. Again, if one likes it cool, it’s just not for me.
Coincidentally here's today's WRUW shot. The natural lighting is 👌
The roof tends to block direct sunlight while the green house lets in lots of indirect light. The interiors tend to be dark and generally nonreflective.
But yes, the ones where some prestige logo on the steering wheel is oh-so-studiously featured are a bit embarrassing.
i dont drive, but agreed fully. here’s me in a cab with a long and forgotten watch
@Sir_Albert Is that a good old Gen 2 Mitsubishi Pajero on the Citizen open heart shot?
Flexing with a 10yo VW 😅 #sarcasm
I remember cars from the before-times when I went places.
Agreed they are great shots
Vette isn’t mine, sadly
Does anyone know the model of that Citizen with the blue hands and open heart

And that too 😅😁

Awesome cars and wristwatches 👍👌
Love your collection BTW
Thanks ☺️
Awesome collection and awesome car 👍👌
#carstudio is a thing--diffused light, places to rest the watch.. plenty of opportunity if waiting/stuck somewhere.
BUT let's be honest, nothing about that requires the steering wheel/logo in there :P
I agree. That's why I cover up the logo with my hand or wrist when I take pictures

Im a big fan of the explorer ❤️👍
I quite like photos like those posted here by @nytime which are watch shots that just happen to be taken in a car, as opposed to so many shots on other platforms which appear to be car logo shots that just happen to include a watch. So many of those cringe worthy brag shots do nothing than show a complete and utter inability to properly frame a photo.
I've no issues with flexers. Different strokes different folks I guess.

Yes. Here we call it fieldmaster
