Watch box recommendations?

Hello all! Well…it’s happened. My collection is now big enough it needs off my closet shelf and into a proper watch box. So, suggestions? I’d like to spend no more than $150 if possible and need 12 slots min.

Watch boxes are the work of the devil!  Any empty slots simply goad you into buying more, for no other reason than to fill the empty slots!

This is a far more elegant solution!

Thanks. Certainly open to other non-box ideas. Someone else posted the idea of a knife storage roll or something, using the loops but that might have been for strap storage.

Anything covered can be easily forgotten. Store the boxes but leave the watches where you can't miss them to pick the one to wear. Favorites in front is ideal. Mine are all hung from pins on a cork board by the door. The visual reminder is best.

I’ve got myself a watchbox recently and it’s exactly as said it’s dangerous for your wallet also wish I would have gone for a few watchrolls rather than a box

·

Omg! Did you open the Pandora’s Watch box !! @HotWatchChick69 loves watchboxes even calls them pet name like, “ Devil Box” sorry he loves them so much he doesn’t use it he/she/it/they think that the watches will scratch the precious ”Devil Box”… go figure he/she/it/they is sensitive about it …

😉😂

For $150, you won't get a better watch box than Rothwell. Trust me on this. $130 will get you a 12 slot with valet drawer, $80 without. Great build quality and excellent customer service. I believe the owner is also active on WUS. Check them out on Amazon or on their website.

If you want a safer watch box that someone cannot peer into (and has latches, a spot for a lock AND watertight, dust-tight, and impact resistant), you can repurpose a gun case into watch storage.  Pelican is the most well-known brand but you can acquire an Apache for 1/3 of the price:

All you have to do is cut out the foam inserts to fit your watches. The extra large can comfortably fit 18 watches.

Whoa check this out just saw this…

I dunno how I feel about it…yet…

I found this on Etsy a couple years ago:

https://www.etsy.com/listing/1003890143/maverton-customised-watch-box-for?click_key=5e2dae786497c24f4db290c8f8c043807420e9fc%3A1003890143&click_sum=a7a26dbf&ref=shop_home_recs_1&crt=1

I not only found it, I purchased 3 of them. They are very nice for a moderate collection.

This is how it looks full (takes 12 watches).

P.S. It is always nice to see a collection budding out isn't it? Congratulations!

P.S.2: The quality is par for the price, don't expect real velvet or pure crystal. But it does the job.

agreed, generally watch rolls/travel cases are more useful than a watchbox.

Are you looking for something to simply store your watches, display them, or both?

When my collection reached the point where I wanted a watch box, I chose the Wolf Windsor 10 slot box, since I thought it looked really nice, and could serve as both storage and display. As my collection has grown, I've added more of them, as I wanted a consistent look.  They feel much more premium than many other inexpensive boxes, however I'd have a really hard time justifying them at their list price, which is beyond your $150 cutoff. I've picked all of mine up from Amazon at below the $150 USD point, and am very pleased with them. The Rothwell that @skyblue suggested appears to have a very similar design, at an even lower cost, and also appears to offer the same spacing between watches (many of the cheaper boxes don't provide sufficient spacing to properly accommodate larger watches without rubbing). If I were just starting, I'd probably try the Rothwell. The Rothwell provides a 12 slot option, but if you ever plan on storing your watch box in a safe, the 10 slot option may be a better size.

I also recently discovered the 4 slot display case from Holme & Hadfield. While it's not a great storage option, they are the best display option that I've come across (although they aren't exactly inexpensive).

if you do end up going with a box, get a box lined with felt or a soft material. My watchbox is unlined wood, and the wood scratches my leather straps once in a while, ANNOYING.

So many watch boxes have design features that permit watches to be scratched on metal frames, or on each other.  Consider an entirely non-metallic watch roll or two. https://www.amazon.com/Waterproof-Multi-Purpose-Organizer-Wristwatches-Girlfriend/dp/B0784RT6TM/ref=sr_1_19?crid=27NFAJ5HBGA75&keywords=watch+roll&qid=1659120381&sprefix=Watch+rol%2Caps%2C144&sr=8-19

As someone who purchased a Rothwell, I can't get behind this fully. YMMV but after I used the locking mechanism for the first time, it broke on me.

Here is what I ended up with. Solid build quality and I like that the cushions don't have any cardboard in them. That means they're soft all around and you won't have to worry about the cardboard breaking through the pillow case. The inside is lined with cloth so you don't have to worry about bracelets getting scratched. The pillows also fit snug in the compartments, so if you flip the box upside down, the watches don't budge.

Just because it has so few reviews doesn't mean it's bad

Perhaps, but is the spacing between the slots and the glass top wide enough to accommodate G-Shocks and bigger watches to prevent them from banging against each other or against the top? The Rothwell does that. Also, I abhor soft cushions because they don't really support the watches in a way that will keep them from rolling around in the box. I like to line my watches up in an orderly fashion and admire them in the box. I don't like my watches looking like they were just thrown together helter-skelter in the box.

·

Look into Tawbury (Amazon), I think they are on sale right now.  I bought an 8-slot box in January this year (and in dire need for another one as I keep buying more watches...😊) and seems to be good quality so far.  I saw Wolf on sale a few weeks ago at Amazon as well.

yeah there's plenty of room above and to the side for my g shock. There's 2.25 inches in each slot. These cushions aren't exactly soft. They are just firm enough to put pressure on the bracelet so that it doesnt slide off the cushion. There's very little wiggle room left right and pulling up on the cushion, so they are indeed quite secure.

Also with the Rothwell, there was one video review on Amazon saying the slots on the edge will eventually wear out because the lip covers the cushion. There isn't that problem on the Readaeer as it's just a wall between every watch slot.

I’m liking this idea!
