24hr bezel on a non GMT?

OK, I am probably going to sound like a total idiot for asking this, but why do some watches have a 24hr bezel when they lack a GMT complication? Is there a way to track a different time zone without the third hand? A 12hr bezel I can understand. Commence with making me look stupid!

No reason at all.

Is that an actual Seiko or a mod?

I think it might be because most of the world does not use am/pm. Digital watches show 24 hours aswel. Still a good question and I hope sum1 will explain it 🙂 maybe some people need to count their beers during the night and 12 is not enough :D

I think it’s a mod. I just pulled the photo off a site to show my point! 😂

Just because it looks cool!

It becomes functional if you divide the 24hrs by 2

That's what I thought. You generally see that type of stuff on very cheap ali express type watches or poorly thought out mods.

Same as a tachy scale on a non chrono.

If somebody asks you how to use the bezel: "What, you don't know? It's obvious, right?"

·

To make it look more expensive than it really is 🤔😂

·

While I'm sure Seiko never made that watch, Invicta made this silly non-GMT watch as a special anniversary watch (with a special, numbered case back, etc.)🙄

Non-functional stuff drives me crazy. For me this is on par with lume on the indices but not on the hands, or chronograph subcounters without markings.

Old style GMTs or lower cost GMTs use the bezel as the second time zone. You set the watch to local time and turn the bezel to point the triangle to the 12 o’clock of the second time zone. GMT watches with a GMT hand and a rotating time bezel can, therefore, show 3 time zones

That does not work with a 24 hour bezel though.

Oops. Next time I’ll pay more attention. Minor detail… 😳

The absence of a GMT hand is the reason it doesn’t work.
