Which one are you

There are 2 types of NATO strap tuckers. Type A and type B. Which are you?

I'm whichever this is...

The excess always goes inside, so it doesn't catch on things, and so you don't look like a kit bomb went off.

·

I like the tuck. It's what the nato should look like. Otherwise I'd just get a single "pass through" strap.

Agreed, the NATO has a charm of it's own due to the excess material. If I want a sleeker look I go for a Crown & Buckle Chevron, or an Erika's Original MN.

·

I go for type 3: the overhead tuck.

I’m also pretty sure that the amount of contortion I had to do to get this shot makes me an honorary member of Cirque du Soleil.

As much as I've tried, I just don't like the way NATOs fit. They add thickness, are bulky, and uncomfortable in my experience. I prefer getting the NATO look with a two piece strap.

My Haveston service series Sabre A2 is the perfect lenght on my 7" wrist.

I felt the same way as you. Since then, I remove the second keeper part on my nato straps so they are just a single pass strap. I very much enjoy wearing them now. worth a try

·

Neither. Cut it!  Can’t stand the excess on natos.

+1 on the earlier comment about Erika‘s straps. I have two and love them.

Just tried the method in this video, and it's definitely an improvement. I'm trying it out right now with an SNK809. So far it's more comfortable, less bulky, and only has one layer passing under the watch. I like it! Thanks for posting the video.

Haveston's floating keepers make "the tuck" unnecessary.

I am definitely the tuck under type. feel like it looks a little cleaner.

I almost always do the alternate method shown in the video, now. I prefer single pass, and this is the best route with the stock NATOs. Very comfortable.

re: the OP's question, I always tuck under, with the flap inside and towards the main strapping.

I do both depending on the thickness of the strap. My nylon ones I do one way and my leather ones I do another
