New Seiko, aw yeah!

So remember about a month ago when I told you all about my vintage horror story? Well after that I decided to practice what we all preach, and buy the seller. I had a look round and @Gasworks seemed to have a good rep around here as a watch restorer so I reached out. He sent over pics of what was available and I made my selection. I'm reliably informed it was a pain in the arse. And Gareth was the picture of what a good watch repairer should be. He was knowledgeable, kept me in the loop, was patient with my requests, and best of all gave me a banging price. £70 plus p+p from Sheepland. If you're after a watch I fully recommend him.  Now to the watch.

The watch is a restored SNXS73 pre 5kx Seiko 5. The dial is absolutely gorgeous in the way it plays with the light and gives an Oyster Perpetual look for £70. 7S26 powered, this thing will run for decades. The bracelet is classic seiko 5 with folded links and a weird adjustment system that I can't seem to adjust (for now). I fear a trip to my watchmaker may be in order (I know! I can't even adjust a bracelet everyone laugh at the watch noob!). The clasp is awesome. Should I write a review? Let me know. Oh and before I forget @Gasworks gave me a discount code for you. Buy one for the price of 2 and receive the second absolutely free! Just use the code GULLIBLE. Im glad this watch is so good as this is likely to be my last purchase for quite some time (how many times have we heard that?). Right I'm off to conduct some scientific experiment as to how the pubs lighting changes the appearance of the dial. Ciao!

It wouldn't let me upload more than 1 pic for some reason so here are the rest

Glad you're happy with it fella. It was an interesting challenge.

Whoever opened it up before me is to watchmaking what my Jack Russell terrier is to quantum mechanics... and she's been dead 20 years.

That is one gorgeous watch and can concur that I love all the pieces that @Gasworks has kindly refurbished for me.

If it's the same style of folded link bracelet I have on one of my Seikos then I find them the most awkward to adjust out of all of the link systems, so certainly don't feel bad for taking it somewhere else and letting it be their problem. Though I have to say I'd be excited to play about with some straps and NATO's with that one. 👍

Although I can't wait to see it it would only make me sad having it in the house and not being able to wear it 😢

Need to wait for @Aurelians End Game....

Gareth is the go to guy for all vintage purchases in my opinion!

What size is your wrist? Do you think it would look good on a 6 inch wrist?

That pic was taken in the summer, when my wrist swells up, so I'd hazard that in the pic my wrist is 6 1/4 inches. Right now it's dead on 6 inches and it looks fine
